Chicken and the egg had sex. When they'd done, the chicken lit a cigarette and said, "Well, I guess we've answered THAT question."

Something of interest here ... I read somewhere that Paul Simon got the title of the song 'Mother and Child Reunion' from an item off of a restaraunt menu for a dish that included chickens and eggs.

Cluin, he laid one himself, din't he? Also, a chicken having sex with an egg is just WRONG!

Somebody told me this once, and I've never forgotten it, because mostly I forget important stuff: the egg came first. Another critter, a not-quite-chicken, a chickensaurus, or something else laid an egg with a mutant embreyo in it, and that embreyo is what we know today as the chicken. Not the same chicken.

I went to a joke site to see how the chicken and the egg thing was rated. I'da given it a five outta five for wit and humour. The people who voted for the funniness of that joke gave it 1.6 out of five. Go figger.

Perhaps not everyone knows of the psychiatrist (Stan Freberg) who owned a horse that clucked.

Passerby"Why does your horse cluck instead of neighing?"

Psych. "He has a complex - he thinks he's a chicken."

Pas. "Well you're a psychiatrist. Why don't you straighten him out?"

Psych. "I would - but I need the eggs."

Little old lady, deperately poor, goes to little neighborhood grocery. They know her there, and always allow her to buy what she asks in whatever quantity. So it is that she sets out to return to her tiny apartment with a bag containing a bottle of ketchup and two eggs. As she passes an alley, a drunk staggers out, face turned downward, and bumps into her, knocking the bag from her hand. The bag and contents all shatter on the sidewalk. The drunk looks down at the remains, then up at the lady. "Don't cry, lady", he says; "It wouldn't have lived anyhow; it's eyes were too far apart."

Peace

It's (at least used to be - haven't been in a long time) on the corner of Mt. Royal and St. Urbain streets - a holdover from the days when the neighbourhood was a nexus of the Jewish community. Sunday mornings would see line-ups a block long for breakfast or brunch, the only meals served. On the menu - fresh squeezed orange juice, eggs (any way you like 'em) with a side of bacon or sausage and the best part - the world's best home fries. Also famous for their world renowned mishmash, which is an omelet filled with fried onions, peppers, salami and hot dogs. But the best was what I usually ordered, which was the Beauty's special - lox, cream cheese, sweet onion and tomato served on a toasted St. Viateur St. bagel - to die for.

If you ever make it out this way I'll spring for a trip to Beauty's, you'll love it.

Thanks Peace ..... bought some coddlers at a yard sale some time back. The only way I'll cook an egg is to coddle them. Just put in lots of ground pepper with the egg and put the coddler in for a bit.

Benny hill had a song called 'The Egg Marketing Board Tango' (in other words, the dance of l'oeuf).
