There does come a point, old chap, when it becomes a little pointlesss to continue!! Have dusted off Jobsworth to demonstrate how it should be done... Brush up on your "I say, I say, I say.." jokes please, people? |

Subject: RE: Sunday session at Monks Walk Beverley uk From: The DeanMeister Date: 05 Dec 03 - 10:29 AM Oh, for gawd's sake, you're gonna have to do better than that, Les!! |
Subject: RE: Sunday session at Monks Walk Beverley uk From: Bassic Date: 05 Dec 03 - 08:49 PM Will we be doing Quo and ZZ Deanie? Should I practice? Will it be Acustic or should I bring a battery? *grin* |
Subject: RE: Sunday session at Monks Walk Beverley uk From: ossonflags Date: 06 Dec 03 - 05:57 AM will you bring a spare one for me gordon? |
Subject: RE: Sunday session at Monks Walk Beverley uk From: smallpiper Date: 07 Dec 03 - 04:51 AM I thought you buzzed enough without the batteries osson! Anyway this here session is today and I am looking forward to it! |
Subject: RE: Sunday session at Monks Walk Beverley uk From: Raggytash Date: 07 Dec 03 - 07:58 AM Michael old bean, Wombat and I are going to cry off this afternoon, something to do with not leaving the little club until 2.30 this morning, we are both bushwhacked and a 140 mile round trip just doesn't appeal. Hopefully see you in Whitby at New Year if not before |
Subject: RE: Sunday session at Monks Walk Beverley uk From: ossonflags Date: 07 Dec 03 - 08:03 AM Your sick note is quite acceptable raggy, now I know that you were in my most favourite club in the world.Give my best to all in there. |
Subject: RE: Sunday session at Monks Walk Beverley uk From: Les from Hull Date: 07 Dec 03 - 06:49 PM Thanks to all involved for another smashing session. What a nice pub, a lovely room with good acoustics and an open fire for the (enter name of least-favourite instument here)s. And Specky's going to have Irish Whiskey next time. Sorry you missed it Nick - see you soon. |
Subject: RE: Sunday session at Monks Walk Beverley uk From: The DeanMeister Date: 08 Dec 03 - 03:47 AM What a lovely afternoon! Shame you didn't stick around, SP, Dickie's Uillean pipes sounded wonderful in there. I appreciate that some of you towards the back found it a little cold, but it did drop down to minus six last night, so hopefully that was just an exception. What did everybody else think? I personally found it cosier than the Sun, more like going back to the Nellies days which I always preferred....a bit more intimate. The acoustics were funny at times. And I know John had great trouble tuning his pipes, but as I said, hopefully that was just due to temperature changes. Thanks to Specky for a lovely afternoon, and to Carl for being the entertainment! Pete. |
Subject: RE: Sunday session at Monks Walk Beverley uk From: smallpiper Date: 08 Dec 03 - 05:03 AM The reeds in my pipes hated the room - yes it was due to temperature and humidity and all of that there technical stuff. I didn't think the accoustics were that good, as soon as there were a number of bodies in, the sound seemed to get sucked up. However, I love the pub and Carl was indeed very entertaining! |
Subject: RE: Sunday session at Monks Walk Beverley uk From: The DeanMeister Date: 08 Dec 03 - 05:06 AM Yeah, its wierd that - looking at the room you would think that the sound should be brilliant, but when you fill it up it was a bit flat. Nonetheless, I thought the atmosphere was really nice. Better, in my humble opinion, than the Sun Inn. |
Subject: RE: Sunday session at Monks Walk Beverley uk From: smallpiper Date: 08 Dec 03 - 05:15 AM Yes the atmosphere was good, I'll give you that. I particularily liked the overhead storage lockers for guitar cases |
Subject: RE: Sunday session at Monks Walk Beverley uk From: Les from Hull Date: 08 Dec 03 - 11:35 AM I take your point(s) about the sound getting soaked up. So next time maybe we should wear wooden or metal clothes? And of course I was near the fire, so comfortably warm (and acting as a mellodeon guard). |
Subject: RE: Sunday session at Monks Walk Beverley uk From: ossonflags Date: 08 Dec 03 - 12:40 PM I liked it. |
Subject: RE: Sunday session at Monks Walk Beverley uk From: ossonflags Date: 08 Dec 03 - 03:20 PM I had no trouble with the acoustics. |
Subject: RE: Sunday session at Monks Walk Beverley uk From: The DeanMeister Date: 09 Dec 03 - 03:50 AM Do you ever? |
Subject: RE: Sunday session at Monks Walk Beverley uk From: ossonflags Date: 09 Dec 03 - 05:57 AM No. |
Subject: RE: Sunday session at Monks Walk Beverley uk From: ossonflags Date: 10 Dec 03 - 05:50 AM On reflection I did have trouble with acoustics once in the early seventies, when me and John Lennon were singing in a bag. |
Subject: RE: Sunday session at Monks Walk Beverley uk From: GUEST,The DeanMeister Date: 30 Dec 03 - 10:51 AM Was it a jiffy bag? I have today ordered 50 bags of Oakleys perfumed orthodontic polar crisps in preparation for the forthcoming session, this sunday, 4th January. Hope you all turn up, I can't eat them all myself. |
Subject: RE: Sunday session at Monks Walk Beverley uk From: del boy Date: 31 Dec 03 - 01:51 AM iv been going to the sun the last 4 weeks id like to come this sunday 4th . is it all types of music ? |
Subject: RE: Sunday session at Monks Walk Beverley uk From: Sir Roger de Beverley Date: 31 Dec 03 - 04:47 AM Del The mix is the same and so are many of the people - perhaps a little more "trad" than we've been doing for the last few weeks at the Sun, but really anything goes. Roger |
Subject: RE: Sunday session at Monks Walk Beverley uk From: del boy Date: 01 Jan 04 - 04:31 AM Thanks Roger, hope to see you on sunday. Derek |
