Little Hawk,

"I'm not puzzled, but what about Mackenzie King?"

OK, Rapaire, so one of our Prime Ministers had a few peculiarities. He got advice from his mom. No big deal.

Many world leaders have sought advice from their parents.

Saying the Mackenzie King had a few peculiarities is like saying that there are a few drops of water in the ocean, or that a few snowflakes went to create a glacier, or that I have a few peculiarities, or that a dog has only a few fleas, or that there are a few stars in the sky.

(NB: I'm picking on Canadians here. The US has had folks with a few peculiarities, too.)

S'okay, Rapaire.

His proclivity was well known after his death. Canadians now know that his mother was dead at the time he sought her advice. However, we have an appointed Senate in Canada, and the House often seeks their advice, too. We see that as being the same thing. Little has changed over the years in Canada.

Mackenzie King once asked his dog what to do about a hostile editorial in the Ottawa Gazette.

The dog said, "Piss on it." And that's where the term "yellow press" actually came from.

Mackenzie King once asked his dog what to do about the sector of the public that is never happy no matter what the government says or does...

The dog said, "Screw 'em all!"

And he did. :-)

Dogs can always find simple answers to complicated questions.

M. King and his dog: Canada's precursor to Shaggy and Scooby Doo.

A lot of people would've gotten away with a lot of things if not for that damned meddling PM and his dog.

"Like, we gotta go out and meet the enemy before he reaches our shores, man. We gotta defeat him before he attacks us, like, before our cities get laid to waste, Scoob! So you go look for clues over that way, while I'll just be sittin' over here makin' a sandwich..."

Flippin' "A", man! We gotta, like, defend the True North Strong and Free, because before ya, like, know it...we're gonna have people tellin' us we can't, like, get pissed drunk in our own homes on Sunday, and...stuff like that, eh? These kind of people are, like, capable of any flippin' atrocity, eh? They would even probably, like, have a strike and cancel Hockey Night in Canada if you give 'em half a chance, eh? That'll NEVER flippin' happen exceptin' over MY DEAD BODY, eh??!!!

Hey, man. Because we are GOOD LOOKIN'! That's why. It's as plain as the hair on yer dingleberries! I am a flippin' Adonuts, man. Believe it. Girls in this town fight over who gets to date me next. I am a hot item as far as, like...the Soo. Maybe farther, eh?

The "Soo" is Sault Ste. Marie...an okay palce to get wasted on the weekend.

That's cos I ain't afraid to say what I really think, eh? "If you can't stand the heat, don't hang yer socks out to dry in the kitchen." I invented that saying.

"Blind DRunk in Blind River" is Canada's answer to sir jOhn from Hull -- just as opinionated and only slightly less orthographically challenged.

You'd think that Little Hawk's good looks would have procured him swelling parts in Hollywood's photographic medium. Yet he confesses his trickling frustrations in another thread.

However, there was that time when the Little Crows chased Little Hawk away from Crow Creek, into the dry summer plains. Little Hawk wandered for days, starving, alone, except for a Big Goat whom he befriended.

Then, one day, they found a tin of film. Big Goat nuzzled it until the lid came off. The film leader loosened around the spool and Big Goat ate a few frames. Little Hawk tried to butt in and nibble the edge, but Big Goat kicked him away and greedily ate the lot.

When there was nothing left but the spool, Little Hawk looked enviously at his big companion and said, "Well, what was it like?"

"It was good," said Big Goat, burping, "But the book was better."
