Subject: Bedworth Folk Festival 27-29 Nov (UK)
From: GUEST,MalcBedworth
Date: 04 Oct 09 - 09:36 AM

Time is fast approaching for this years Bedworth Festival!

See all the guest list and other information on the festival web site. New for this year is additional parking for caravans and campervans closer to the town centre venues (VERY near to the great Black Bank pub!) this also means we can accommodate far more vans, although it still looks as if we will sell out of space in the next few weeks so if you haven't already booked book quickly.

As always we have planned in a Catters meet - this will be at The Old Black Bank on Saturday afternoon 3pm - 5pm hosted as always by Hils (MGAS) this is a totally free event so even if you don't have a festival ticket pop in and say hello!

As well as the usual host of concerts, folk clubs and singarounds, there will be the fantastic Craft Fair in the Civic Hall followed by the Grand Ceilidh with Pete Grassby and The Aardvark Ceilidh Band. This year we have a really spectacular set of dance displays throughout the town centre (well in excess of 150 dancers!). Proceedings begin 5:30pm on Friday and go through (almost continuously!) to closing time Sunday evening. Highlights of the week-end will doubtlessly include the Friday evening late session dedicated to the memory of Johnny Collins who has been the backbone of the festival since it's inception, some special themed events include Derek Giffords "Birds in Song" and Liz Holland and Jeff Parton with their latest show - so there is something for everyone. We are currently working on the programme which should be on the web site by the end of the month.

We are also still looking for stewards so if you want to join the fun for free in exchange for helping keep everyone safe contact Gill Gilsenan on 078 1248 7331 or Drop her an email. Thanks for your time. Malc.

Hi Malc

It's one of the highlights of my year!

I'm fairly certain I've asked you for a tiny camper spot at the rugby club but, if not, can we have one please?

Blessings
Rhiannon
(the owner of the smallest camper at the festival!)

Just a reminder, if you want campervan or caravan space for Bedworth please book soon - the space has started to go really fast over the last few days. Also a reminder about the Ralph McTell concert in the Civic Hall friday evening - you get a £5 discount if you have booked a week-end festival ticket, saves you nearly a third off the price! All the details on the Festival Website.

Thanks, Malc.

Ooooooooooo - I'm SO looking forward to this. It has to be one of my favourite festivals.   I'm busy reupholstering the smallest camper in the world in readiness. (Thicker curtains etc!)

We are intending to go to The Bear and Ragged Staff on the Friday evening for a bite to eat and a 'jar'. We usually see a load of festival goers in there so, if you're around, come and join us.

Blessings
Rhiannon

You game for it?

I'm wondering if Bedworth Civic Hall is still the Hottest Place On Earth.

The Salt Town Poets were there a few years ago and nearly fried in one of the conference rooms.

Apparently the heating system was controlled by computer from nearby Nuneaton and nobody in Bedworth could override the system.

As I said at the time, I've been hot at Middlewich Festival, which is, let's face it, held in the middle of Flaming June, but never, ever, that hot.

Just wondered. Have a great festival, folks.

I don't know if, by the coldest singaround, you mean the frosty night many years ago when we had a fire alarm evacuation - Bernard Wrigley had his audience singing Wild Mountain Thyme out in the street!

Looks like the White Swan isn't involved unfortunately, but the Arts Centre looks like it's being used for almost all of Sunday, so that's a big bonus.

Quite a lot going on at the Black Bank.

Hi all,

Just a quick visit to say parking at the Rugby Club is now full, our second site behind the Black Bank pub still has some space, but is rapidly filling.

Provisional running order is on the web site (shouldn't be too many changes now), and even the weather is looking reasonable (well, for the end of November!)

Here's the usual invitation to everyone to come along and dance or play with Herbaceous Border.
Sat 1.40 to 2.40pm outside the Civic Hall in what's rather grandly called the Health Centre Piazza. (When it's been wet we have been know to dance inside the Civic Hall)
Sun 1.00 to 2.30pm (or p'raps stopping a bit sooner) in the Old Black Bank Car Park.

It's always nice to know beforehand who's planning to turn up!

Sue

Hope you'll all be able to come along to the MudGather, Saturday at the Old Black Bank, starting at 3pm & possibly finishing at 5.30pm. there'll be a MudRaffle (I'll try to get it drawn at 5pm) with proceeds going to MudCat funds which will help to pay the server bills etc.

So please, seek out those old white elephants, unwanted gifts, spare coins for the raffle tickets, purchase (or create) some chocolate and come to the Gather!!!!

Talking of Herbaceous Border on Sunday - there's a bit of confusion about the times!
My original e-mail from Malcolm said 12.30-2.00 and that's what I've sent out in the HB Newsletter.
On the web-site it says 1.00 - 2.30 and that's what I posted up above.
I don't know yet what it says in the programme but I reckon I will aim to be there before 12.30

The forecast for the Midlands looks quite good for Sunday though it apparently will still be bucketing down here in Devon.

Hi Sue,
The programme says 1pm - I just moved it back a bit as you will be using the car park and we thought it would be safer to leave it a bit until the traffic arriving for the music session had slowed down. By all means start earlier if you want - but be mindful of the risk!. We sent you a full running order over the week-end but your server is still not accepting it (see PM).   The running order on the web site is now "final" (or as final as these things can be!)
... and the weather forecast for the weekend ....mild but wet, sunshine sunday - that could be the first time we have EVER had sunshine at Bedworth Festival! (that's from the BBC so it must be right ;-))
Cheers
Malc.
