It's £9 to Canterbury Cathedral - we told them to stuff it last week when we were there (to see Home Service)!!

Thank you '999'.

Sorry to be pedantic but I think you'll find that those are, strictly speaking, sacks of peanuts rather than packets.

It's £9 entrance to Canterbury Cathedral - or £8 if over 65, I should say! Never had to pay in Argentina to get in a cathedral, or in Spain.

Bozo No Legs, you're as full of it as ever...and Mayet, nice cut and paste job there sunshine, with no original thoughts from you, not that that is possible, I would say you've never had an original thought in your life.

There's no room for protest in Bozo No Legs and Mayet's England, their premise is, "shut up, sit down and do as your told", all very 1950's, Daily Telegraph upper middle class.

Well it looks like the resignations have had the desired effect.

St Pauls won't be evicting the protesters after all and it is reckoned that they could still be there come the olympics.

So Bonzo is wrong and the protest is succeeding in getting through to people.

Good old C of E (and that from a republican Irish Catholic)

There is a much smaller protest camp happening in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, which is going very well indeed. As of today (1st November 2011) it looks like they are "digging in" for the winter
Occupy Regina we are everywhere Bozo, get over it!

Still, I'll be the Vicar of Bray, Sir!

It's disgraceful for any place of worship to charge admittance. Our cathedral here in Norwich (UK) now has a million pound new 'Hostry' (enormous foyer & exhibition space) a multi-million pound 'refectory' (gigantic steel, stone and glass restaurant) and a large shop selling posh stuff at exorbitant prices. When you go in via the 'Hostry' a huge sign 'suggests' you pay a minimum £5 each. The last time I was there, for some quiet prayer and meditation, the lady behind the desk asked brightly "Are you going to contribute?" I'm afraid I went for her a bit, and told her I NEVER pay to pray, thank you! And just in front of the door, in all weathers, sits a very smelly vagrant homeless lady with all her carrier bags beside her. They've got it all wrong IMO. I don't believe Jesus would ever have condoned any of this.

The Church is probably more aligned with big business than Joe Average - never mind the poor..

Phil Ochs in his song "The Cannons of Christianity" made some pertinent comments.
Here are a couple of extracts from the song.

"Holy hands will count the money raised
Like a king the Lord is richly praised
On a cross of diamond majesty
Say the cannons of Christianity...

Cathedral walls will glitter with their gold
And the sermons speak through silver robes
Building castles amidst the poverty
Say the cannons of Christianity..."

Well - now the Archbishop of Canterbury is exprerssing support for the protesters ...

... looks like the alleged legal action was a slightly premature misrepresentation of St Pauls position.

"Wasters at St Paul's to be kicked out"
No they weren't kicked out - four of them (churchmen) resigned of their own free will and the Archbishop is now "considering his position".
Wonder if anybody saw the 'Toron' (Tory moron) politician on Question Time the week before last week who claimed that the demonstrators couldn't possibly be taken seriously because they "bought their coffee from Starbucks" - comforting to know that Britain is in safe hands.
I see Bozo Nobrain is maintaining his high standard of Thatcherist ideology here - nothing new under the sun.

Actually it's my understanding that the court order has only been suspended, for the time being, which means it could resurrected at any time, regardless of who's in power at St Paul's or who isn't. I fear that is whole legal thing is far from over and we need to be on constant watch.

Said today on BBC Devon they've been granted permission to stay until at least January. They just need to move their tents a little to create a safer path for people wanting to use the Cathedral.

Also, I just wanted to say, that I hope Bonzo is feeling a little humility today, after so many people that he's offended with this thread, went out of their way to wish his wife well.

These, Bonzo, are The 99%.

I suggest you join them as fast as you can.

I too, wish your wife well.

ahh..the one thing the left and the right have in common, they both get hysterical when picked on. I am neither right nor left, neither conservative nor labour I don't care much for either. nor am I this person, nor am that person, just someone who doesn't think very much the establishments of the right and the left, they've both been proven to totally unworkable, and are only in it for themselves, net result, it's the general populous that suffers. Carroll your reply, from my readings of your past posts is totally predictable, again anyone who disagrees with your output is a member of the rabid right. Bridge I HAVE followed YOUR postings and to be chastised by Mudcat's court jester is hysterical ....keep up the good work, your efforts are being recognised, as I've noted, by others as well as me.

I `ad one of them CEO`s from Starbucks, in my cab the other day. That`s the Starbucks `oo are the international corporation that practises greed and exploitation of the masses by flogging all sorts of coffee.
I said, "Morning Mr.Gecco. I suppose you and your team are getting well brassed off with those occupiers interrupting your bizz just by St.Pauls?"
`e said, "Au contraire, Jim. They`ve gotta go to the bog somewhere so each time they come in we do `em for another cup of coffee. Nice little earner!!"

BTNG there is no such thing as a position above it all. Even if you want to suggest that's the space you inhabit. You're the fish who doesn't want to associate with the water you swim in. And from this part of the pond, it's looking pretty toxic.
