Subject: BS: Mudcat Mojo for LEJ From: Lonesome EJ Date: 25 Jul 12 - 04:04 PM Last Tuesday I was in Iowa and working out at the hotel fitness room when the weights got jammed in the track on the Nautilus machine. Never try to unjam a weight machine with your hand! Bottom line is I received a crush injury to my left hand with five fractures. None required surgery or pinning, but I'm in a cast and will probably have to go through a couple of months of therapy afterwards. So my Martin 6 string will be quite lonely for a while. I expect a good recovery, but will likely be left with considerable stiffness in my fingers for some time. It is cause for some concern, and I appreciate any positive thoughts, wishes, prayers, or even good-natured sarcasm (Spaw, I mean)as I heal. LEJ |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Mojo for LEJ From: GUEST,Eliza Date: 25 Jul 12 - 04:12 PM Sorry to hear this LEJ. Those machines can be quite dangerous, I've heard of similar accidents. How will you pull up your jeans?! Best wishes for speedy healing of your hand. Eliza x |

Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Mojo for LEJ From: Lonesome EJ Date: 25 Jul 12 - 04:28 PM "How will you pull up your jeans?!" I am putting together a list of willing assistants and will be pleased to add your name, Eliza ! Also putting together a pulling-them-down list. |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Mojo for LEJ From: gnu Date: 25 Jul 12 - 04:28 PM OH MY!!! I hope your recovery is absolutely the best possible. |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Mojo for LEJ From: Charmion Date: 25 Jul 12 - 04:37 PM Holy crap, Ernie; that's not a joking matter. You have my most sincere sympathy and condolences. But this is no excuse to miss the Getaway, though one might stretch a point and consider it a reason. |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Mojo for LEJ From: Bill D Date: 25 Jul 12 - 04:48 PM Ow, indeed! Play lots of mouth harp... and stay away from Iowa! |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Mojo for LEJ From: rumanci Date: 25 Jul 12 - 04:55 PM Good thoughts and wishes from here too - bet you never do that again! This keeping fit lark is never that easy eh? Hope recovery is speedy, as painless as possible and complete and that the harmonica gets a good workout in the meantime. (I'll leave the one-handed occupational jokes to 'Spaw too.) rum |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Mojo for LEJ From: Rapparee Date: 25 Jul 12 - 04:56 PM Thank God you can still play the banjo and drink! That'll teach you about that fitness stuff. If you were meant to lift heavy weights you'd have been born a crane and if you were meant to run some irate father'd be shootin' at ya. In the meantime, from one recovering one-handeer to another...wiping is going to be hard for a while and I suggest wearing loafers instead of shoes that you have to tie. Why, in the name of all that's holy, were you in Iowa???? |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Mojo for LEJ From: alanabit Date: 25 Jul 12 - 05:02 PM Some Mudcat mojo heading your way from Köln. Many, many years ago a martial arts trainer told me never to train with anything other than the weight of my own body. It is also cheaper and you need less space! Glad to hear that the injury is going to heal. Keep us posted how the recovery is going! |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Mojo for LEJ From: JennieG Date: 25 Jul 12 - 06:52 PM Ouch! As another recovered one-hander, at least you don't have to worry about fastening a bra. Not on yourself, anyway. Cheers JennieG |

Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Mojo for LEJ From: Lonesome EJ Date: 26 Jul 12 - 12:45 AM well, gang, the Getaway is not happening for me, conflicting with the Ft Worth trade show again. hopefully the stars will differently align next year. I appreciate all the well-wishes and can feel my hand healing. Of course...that ITCHES LIKE HELL. |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Mojo for LEJ From: Amos Date: 26 Jul 12 - 12:51 AM Gawdmmit Lonesome!! This is carrying your "lame" excuse-making one damn step too far. You do NOT mess with the hand that plucks the Martin, ever. Listen talk to your hand and apologize for being a jadrool. Mebbe it'll forgivre you like and heal right up, providing you promise to take it to the Getaway. Honest to God, son, this is not a good way to get sympathy. Not thaty it doesn't work, but still... Heal that puppy clean and straight, buddy. Mebbe you should get a new handle once you're playing again--"Dead Hand Ernie" has a nice ring to it... |

'The Man' when I was in Rehab reckoned playing guitar ws excellent therapy so as soon as there is movement and NOT too much pain , get back in there . |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Mojo for LEJ From: Allan C. Date: 26 Jul 12 - 06:25 AM Where the hell is Spaw? Okay, I'll try to offer a proxy comment: I'm hoping that isn't your "business" hand. I mean, how hard is it going to be to wipe your ass? Hey, is this going to interfere with your sex life? |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Mojo for LEJ From: Lonesome EJ Date: 26 Jul 12 - 11:34 AM Thanks Allan...that relieves some of the tension of waiting for Spaw's remarks! and MyGuru...since I really couldn't play much worse, if I can play at all there's no place to go but up! |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Mojo for LEJ From: Ebbie Date: 26 Jul 12 - 01:02 PM About the itching, they say that the brain doesn't really differentiate, so when your hand itches, scratch (with what? t'other one. |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Mojo for LEJ From: GUEST,999 Date: 26 Jul 12 - 01:04 PM Ernie, after wishes for a rapid healing and speedy complete recovery I'll get to the question everyone has but hasn't asked: Did it hurt? |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Mojo for LEJ From: Lonesome EJ Date: 26 Jul 12 - 04:33 PM "Did you cry?" would be a better question, Bruce! |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Mojo for LEJ From: GUEST,Eliza Date: 26 Jul 12 - 05:13 PM I'd be only too happy to help you pull your breeks up and down, LEJ. But have you thought of wearing a kilt for the duration? (Easy access and all that) |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Mojo for LEJ From: Lonesome EJ Date: 26 Jul 12 - 05:42 PM Kilt? Funny you mention that. I'm wearing one now. It's the "Easy Breezy Tartan" model from McDangle's of Dundalk. I have trouble unbuckling my claymore though. |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Mojo for LEJ From: katlaughing Date: 26 Jul 12 - 06:05 PM McDangle's???**BG** Better be sure that kilt is long enough! |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Mojo for LEJ From: open mike Date: 27 Jul 12 - 01:31 AM the lesson is: stay away from those durned exercise machines! Best wishes for complete recovery and rehab! |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Mojo for LEJ From: Lonesome EJ Date: 27 Jul 12 - 02:19 AM All jokes aside, I do appreciate the good wishes and thank every one of you for your concern.. |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Mojo for LEJ From: Amos Date: 27 Jul 12 - 10:46 AM Well, we don't want Fate messing with any of our best geniuses, do we? Moral: do NOT exercise, and if you MUST exercise, do it by taking out the trash and raking the lawn, NEVER on a machine. A |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Mojo for LEJ From: Lonesome EJ Date: 27 Jul 12 - 11:33 AM "Best geniuses"? You talkin' to me? This entire episode would tend to indicate I lack even the most elementary reasoning skills. Of course, now I can barely take out the trash, and raking the lawn is definitely out of the question. |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Mojo for LEJ From: michaelr Date: 27 Jul 12 - 11:44 AM Best wishes for a quick recovery, EJ! |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Mojo for LEJ From: YorkshireYankee Date: 27 Jul 12 - 12:38 PM Of course, now I can barely take out the trash, and raking the lawn is definitely out of the question. So that's why you did it! Seriously though, hope you mend as quickly as humanly possible. (It's obvious your sense of humor hasn't suffered...) |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Mojo for LEJ From: GUEST,Eliza Date: 27 Jul 12 - 02:36 PM LEJ McDangle's of Dundalk! LOL! |

Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Mojo for LEJ From: maeve Date: 16 Aug 12 - 03:37 PM Indeed! How is the recovery coming along? |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Mojo for LEJ From: catspaw49 Date: 16 Aug 12 - 03:45 PM Gawdamn.......I am so sorry.......I only was on briefly during this thread and I missed this thread completely. Now that I know.....well, like, uh.....get better and all , ya' know? So..........Tell me, I don't give a shit about your gitar pickin' but, and thinking of shit, how's your ass wipin' going? See, that's critical and a lot more entertaining as a story than the fact that you're going to have to leave the ax alone for awhile. Even if you still have your good hand to use, I had another friend in a similar situation who fell off the john because he used the bad hand to sort of balance in a cramped restaurant stall. Now HE had a great story! Work on yours................. Spaw |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Mojo for LEJ From: Janie Date: 16 Aug 12 - 05:58 PM Definitely time for a progress report! |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Mojo for LEJ From: gnu Date: 16 Aug 12 - 07:02 PM Spaw! You'd be the one to ask about ass wipin on accounta yer dick is dried up and useless. Not that I care about whether LEJ can rub one out. |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Mojo for LEJ From: catspaw49 Date: 16 Aug 12 - 08:12 PM Rub one out huh? I've heard that used before but I could never ask about it. You seem to be knowledgeable in this matter so let me ask you. Its often said that you can't polish a turd but seemingly, according to you, you can! How does that work? Special rubbing compound? Wax? Do you buff it out? Spaw |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Mojo for LEJ From: SINSULL Date: 16 Aug 12 - 08:36 PM Must I remind you boys that this a family forum???? Take you dirty talk outside and shove it up your asses.
