Subject: RE: CyberHymnal hacked, missing or deceased? From: Haruo Date: 27 Dec 08 - 12:20 PM Rejoice! Rejoice! and again I say rejoice! Shout to the Lord with a mighty voice of thanksgiving, for the site which we thought was dead is alive. http://cyberhymnal.org/ Haruo PS I like the new, no-longer-all-caps approach in the Titles Index. |

Subject: RE: CyberHymnal hacked, missing or deceased?-now OK From: Haruo Date: 05 Jan 09 - 08:14 AM Unfortunately, "now OK" was a bit premature. The URL is now http://www.hymntime.com/tch/. According to a note on the homepage, Many users have asked what will happen to the domain name "cyberhymnal.org." the legal owner (Word.Net) is unwilling relinquish it, so we can't use the old URL. In addition, our site search feature will not be fully functional until search engines have had time to re-index the site at its new URL. And the old URL now sports this odd content: Visitors, we are sorry, however, this site is experiencing difficulties at this time. Please return later.Haruo |
Subject: RE: CyberHymnal hacked, missing or deceased?-now O From: GUEST,Gael MacGregor Date: 05 Jan 09 - 09:32 PM So the www.cyberhymnal.org URL now forwards you to www.his-net.com. HIS-net, indeed. Pretty UN-Christianlike to bump the CyberHymnal folks so unceremoniously. *hrmph* I'll be happy when the new site is fully functional. As a music supervisor, I use them extensively, as they have done impeccable research on the origins of the hymns and variations. They have saved me lots of time over the years, since I have yet to find one instance where their info has been incorrect. Besides, I can get lyrics for sing-a-longs, etc. so everyone is (literally) on the same page. :) And to quote Joni Mitchell: "Don't it always seem to go that you don't know what you've got 'til it's gone?" I, too, went into severe panic/loss mode when I discovered it missing, and thanks to y'all here at Mudcat (a fun resource), I found the new link & info on what had happened. Thanks! |

Subject: RE: CyberHymnal missing or deceased?-now OK, new URL From: GUEST,Philip Date: 09 Jan 09 - 05:35 PM Though strangely, if you put Cyberhymnal into google, and follow the links below the main link to pages within the site, they still work. eg http://www.cyberhymnal.org/ttl/ttl.htm |
Subject: RE: CyberHymnal missing or deceased?-now OK, new URL From: GUEST,Boycott Word.Net Date: 15 Jan 09 - 09:43 AM If you know anyone using Word.Net, tell them to find another company to do business with. From what I can tell, they took the sweat and tears of the poor man that spend 15 years putting together the Cyber Hymnal piece by piece and are not using it for their greedy gains. Notice how EVERY page now has advertising! They are trading off the trust that was built up over the years all for thrity pieces of silver. The love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. Cyberhymnal.org as it was was dead. How horrible that a company that purports to serve God is only using God's name for stuffing their pockets!
