Minstrel carrying large ornate lute, and wearing a flowing forest green cape trimmed in sapphire, emblazoned with bewhiskered fish, rampant, in deep blue, his sturdy well-traveled legs wrapped in scarlet thigh-high boots of soft leather, and sporting a jerkin of many colors in crazyquilt design, strolls over the grassy knoll amongst the revelers and sings with wicked glint in eye:

Le roi disait a la Reine Vittoire
Si tu voulais
Entre tes doigts chatouiller mon histoire
Je banderais....

This Mudcat Park is a great place to come to relax. Over there in the kiddies cornet the youngsters are playing nicely and making up songs. There's a group of old codgers on the bench exchanging stories about the good old days, and even older jokes (and passing round a flask). Another group under that big tree are exchanging recipes. There's a large group by the bandstand with instruments swopping tips and singing together. Over by the war memorial there's a prayer group. There's a friendly argument on politics by the pond near where the ecological group are looking for critters. Another group have brought songbooks and tapes to exchange. There's a blind bluesman busking by the icecream stand. I haven't seen a flasher or a mugger all day. Could this be the real Mudcat people told me about?

nah - if it was the REAL MudCat there would probably be a least one flasher or mugger. This is probably just a fantasy...

sorry, a little cynical this am.

Amos - the King did WHAT to the Queen?

Mbo modestly remarked:

Now, let me try out that Dick Gaughan riff, I'm sure I can handle it...

Meeb, nobody can play what Gaughan plays. As usual, the best approach is to listen to it until you hear a melody line...then turn off the stereo and play it as you hear it in your head.

Who the heck are Seven Nations? (The seven Celtic nations?) Obviously more Dick Gaughan fans!

The King said to Queen Victoria
If you wanted to
Tickle my story between your fingers
I would..um...engorge?

That's why I left it in the original French, darn it!!

:>)The rest of the verses are worse, so don't ask...

Seven Nations are a Celtic (mostly Scottish) folk/rock group from New York. They do traditional songs & tunes as well as their own more contemporary folkrock tunes. THEY ROCK! Man, Biskit, you were in Cherry Point? You shoulda TOLD me! That's only about an hour from my house in Jacksonville! Too bad I missed ye!

Yeah Mbo I hauled a Harrier jet fusalage from MCAS,(Marine corps air station) Yuma,Arizona to MCAS Cherry Point,NC. then went up to Fort Lee,Va and loaded a 5 ton truck w/trailer for Fort Campbell,Ky. I loaded at the same Dock a duece and a half cargo truck w/a water trailer going to Fort Irwin,Ca. I guess the 101st airborne is gonna go play in the sand for awhile. I'll deliver out there on Saturday, and hopefully load something monday, for Phoenix or Tucson, so I can be back in Yuma on the 14th to load another Harrier going to Cherry Point,NC, so hopefully, this next time in NC. we'll be able to meet somewhere. Biskit - Praise is traveling....

"Help yourself to fourths and fifths now
Loosen your belt a notch or two now
Pause a bit, then force dessert down!
While we are together!
