Subject: RE: BS: Was the fix in? From: Jon Freeman Date: 13 Nov 00 - 06:04 PM Nor am I Doug and I live in the UK. It maybe just local but I've not "booze-up" used, round here one would say "that lot couldn't even organise a piss-up in a brewery" Jon |
Subject: RE: BS: Was the fix in? From: John Hardly Date: 13 Nov 00 - 06:14 PM I came in late, Is this the fix under congressional investigation, whereby the media polsters called the FL election EARLY for Gore in the only 15 minute segment in which he had the lead, but sat on the double-digit leads in GA and battleground OH for two hours before announcing Bush wins, thereby affecting all the later state voter turn-out? just wondrin' John |
Subject: RE: BS: Was the fix in? From: DougR Date: 13 Nov 00 - 06:58 PM John! For shame, for shame! How could you mention that? Probably just an unintentional error on the part of the network or something. DougR |
Subject: RE: BS: Was the fix in? From: Seth Date: 13 Nov 00 - 07:41 PM I don't know, but my mom, who lives in Florida, is eighty -eight, is a long time Republican who hates Hilary, Al ,George and Dubya with equal fervor! She thinks that Buchanan is "despicable". I don't know who she voted for this time. She is politically very sharp and independent, but with her bad vision, would have a hard time finishing a ballot, particularly a confusing one, in five minutes. I suspect that the same thing happened in West Palm. Seth from China |
Subject: RE: BS: Was the fix in? From: McGrath of Harlow Date: 13 Nov 00 - 08:58 PM I prefer booze-up, mainly because of the alliteration, but also because the boozing is the main purpose of the operation. You can say it either way, the idea being that if you cannot organize a booze-up (or a piss-up) in a brewery, your organising skills are somewhat lacking.
It goes along with the suggestion that someone couldn't organise their way out of a paper bag.
I think lots of people in public life would sooner be suspected of being cunning and successful crooks rather than bumbling incompetents. I suppose there are unkind people who would suggest that Bush bids fair to fill both of these roles at one and the same time. Baldrick in the White House... |
Subject: RE: BS: Was the fix in? From: Lucius Date: 13 Nov 00 - 09:13 PM So we have a three time felon from a political dynasty. He runs for President, and his brother--the Governor in a neighboring state promises the state to him. Voting irregularities occur, voters are refused new ballots when they discover a flaw. Eventually, the electorate is denied their right to to be fairly counted, and the election is given to the "winner" on the basis of the absentee military vote. Is this a third world scenario? I'm ready to believe anything, especially from the party of Watergate and the "October Surprise Defense". |

Subject: RE: BS: Was the fix in? From: DougR Date: 13 Nov 00 - 11:04 PM Hey, Seth! Check out the posting I made on another thread suggesting a federal program to provide eye glasses to EVERYONE so they would have no problem reading the ballots! It's on one of the political threads. If you agree with my plan, write your congressperson! See how politically correct I am! DougR |
Subject: RE: BS: Was the fix in? From: MarkS Date: 13 Nov 00 - 11:06 PM Lucius - Why are the irregularities only in Palm Beach, where are the voters who asked for new ballots in place of spoiled ballots, and how many recounts are needed before the electorate is fairly counted? Just curious MarkS |
Subject: RE: BS: Was the fix in? From: Troll Date: 13 Nov 00 - 11:39 PM Palm Beach is heavily demo. and the ballots will need to be recounted until Gore wins. troll |
