Ach, Gawd! Ah thoct I wuid dee laughin'! Ah dinna ken whit happened tae the post Ah wis respondin' tae in mah post above. It vanished! Ah think Max may hae deleted it. It wis frae a GUEST an' he wis advisin' me tae nae spell "mare" whin Ah mean tae say "mair". A "mare" is a horse, he said. He wis absoluitly richt. Ah'm so ashamed. But it's nae reason t' git mah kilt in a knot, Ah'm larnin' as Ah go. Ah think the glo''al stop is oan o' the maist charmin' characteristics o' the Scots tongue, sae I couldna resist puttin' it in mah text. D'ye think Ah shuid drap it, then?

THe comments of the previus guest ahve reminded me of my amusement at the term, Erse. Having been brought up in Glasgow this was the pronounciation for arse, as in "you're an erse", which I used for many a long year before I ever heard of the language. Thus people "speaking in the Erse tongue" has potential for totally different meanings for me.

Want to have King Arthur descended from Fergus mac Roach/Mor? Her it is.

There were several Arthurs/Arthruis/Arthwys in the 5th and 6th centuries, and one can usually find some modern work that makes each of these the 'real' King Arthur. The only early evidence we have for a real King Arthur is in Nennius' 'heap' which itself isn't entirely trustworthy. However, the following account explains all of that away in order to make Arthur one of the Dalraida Scots, a descendent of our Fergus mac Roch/Mor. At the first click below you will see a genealogy of Arthur from the kings of Dalriada, where the first is the son of Fergus, as can be seen in an extend genealogy at the second click.

Sorry again, in revising my note I inadvertantly took out the fact that the genealogy of King Arthur at the first click-on is under the click-on there for 'The Battle of Camlann'
