Well, my intentions are good, just a bit slower than I'd hoped. It seems I have to reformat some in order to make a new pdf file to upload. So..it's taking me more time. My apologies; I'll get to it as I am able. Thanks for your understanding and patience.:-)

Last November, I was finally fit enough to begin marketing my book in a more concerted effort. I am pleased to say it has been added to the shelves of the inimitable Tattered Cover in Denver; the independent bookstore owned by the woman who refused to let the FBI access to her database of customers and their purchases AND won her case in court. This is a real coup for a small publisher like myself and I am pleased as punch. (It will not show in their online search as it is tied into their biggest distributor, but one may call and ask for it, as it will be in their store database.)

Just wanted to share that with you and say, thanks, again to all who have supported me, esp. to PeterT for starting the Thought for the Day threads from which it came.

Had a nice write-up and thought I'd share it with you all, though they missed the updated info on the email addy and website:-):

Wind Words of Wyoming" by Kat LaFrance

After the author's mother and dog, her two best "sounding boards," died, Kat LaFrance struggled to continue writing.

But with the help of others via the Internet, she wrote the brief essays, stories and poems on nature, spirituality, people and pets featured in this book.

LaFrance grew up in Wyoming and Colorado. In her acknowledgement, she said uses her words to "express my passion for Earth Mother and her Beings, justice and metaphysics."

She noted that without being able to write, her "voice" of expression would be limited. From her perspective, the author looks at Wyoming weather, landscapes, seasons and more.

LaFrance encourages her readers to hold memories of loved ones close to their heart and also to be open to any incidents that bring more to the forefront.

She also focuses on her loved ones, friends, pets and others who have influenced and touched her life.

"Wind Words of Wyoming" is published by MindfullSpoken Press, which can be accessed through the Internet at mindfullspoken@yahoo.com.

Kat - I have a collection of short stories coming out in a week or two. The title of the volume is "Invasion of the Bible Thumpers."
I think I have one more round of galley proofs to go through.

Sure, Riginslinger. I'll PM you with my address and you can send a check or money order. Thanks re' the cover. That's a photo I took up on Boysen Peak in Wyoming, up on the Wind River Reservation where whitehides don't usually get to go. I did a test run at a recent book fair, selling greeting cards with that photo and a couple of others from WY on them. They turned out to be pretty popular. If you'd like, I'll throw in one of each for you; there are three, until I dig out more photos. Thanks!

I got this book for my aunt, who spent her formative years near Casper.
She recently passed away and the book came back to me.. she loved Wyo.
and requested a song about it on her death bed, I sang Bill Staines' Sweet Wyoming Home for her!

Wow, that got there fast, Sins! How come it takes a slow boat to China to get from here to Cape Cod and it can get to you on the Monday after the Saturday I sent it?!

Oh, yeah, and nanner, nanner...I know who bought it for you!**bg**

That one you gave to your s-i-l? If it doesn't have the ISBN on the back, in teeny-tiny print, it MAY be a collector's item one day, bringing in untold millions on eBay as a "first ever!" **BSEG**

Thanks, Anonymous and Sins!

Heya'll,

I am working on releasing this book through Amazon, too, which requires new write-ups for their sales marketing, etc. stuff. I hate trying to write what a publisher would write on the back of a book to get you to read it. I have used some quotes by some dear Mudcatters who have read it, including Art Thieme, JenEllen, and Jean Ritchie, to pull together a "blurb." Would those of you who are so inclined, give me your opinion of it. Would it spark your interest? Thanks a bunch! Here 'tis (rough draft!):

WindWords of Wyoming was written to be dog-eared, have its passages highlighted, and fall open to your favorite page every time.

Written whilst Kat lived in Wyoming, everyday life is re-invented in this collection in a most joyous way: how to let go, how to make peace with both life and death, how much fun it can be just to let Nature be a part of your life.

Reminiscent of Anne Morrow Lindberg's books, Kat makes the colours of the land of the American West as vivid as any reality-based laser photo. In a grand way, she and Lewis and Clark's journals, praise and describe the same special land mass--the American West. They found it when it was pristine---and Kat has beamed her light on the beauty that still remains.

In WindWords of Wyoming, Kat's words sing, and the song is one reflecting a great inner stillness and peace...it makes us listeners slow down- stop, and take time for the beauty in small things around us, to appreciate the usual and the ordinary-miracles nonetheless.

My sincere thanks to those mentioned for permission to use their quotes. I hope they do not mind the liberty I took in shortening them up some. Most of the wording is still theirs.:-)

Kat, I don't know where the hell I've been but I never noticed this post and I deeply apologize. When I came back a few days ago I seen this thread and told myself that as soon as I can get some time I will get to it. Well I just finished reading every post (77 so far.)and going to all the links that were mentioned.
I would p.m you on a few things but that is not possible right now. I still can't believe that this thread was started back in 2004.
I am a little unclear as to the way of ordering it. I don't have pay/Pal but have master card. Or I could send you a personal check.

My grandson, Morgan, is "helping" me with my marketing. He suggested a contest. The first person to answer the following, correctly, wins a free copy of my book:

A man went to California and he left on Friday. How did he do it?

(P.S., He's adamant that's the way it goes. I *think* it is supposed to say he went there on Friday and arrived on the same Friday.:-)

From memory. I'll check the spelling later.

Morgan is seven, isn't he?

I told a joke on the radio today, for my local organic gardening guru after he discovered that the armadillos had tunneled into his yard over near the bamboo where he couldn't see the hole. I told him I had a joke with an armadillo, my only Aggie (Texas A&M) joke:

How many Aggies does it take to eat an armadillo?

A: Two. One to eat it and one to watch for cars.

Good luck in getting it formatted, Kat!

Just wanted to let UK members know, it is available at amazon.co.uk, now.

Also, if anyone who has read it, either the old print version or the e-book, and would like to leave a comment or review at any of the online places, but esp. amazon, I would REALLY appreciate it. Word of mouth remains the most powerful, successful way to garner interest and, hoped for sales.

Thanks, very much!
