Subject: RE: Music Composition Software? From: GUEST,Babel Fish Date: 08 Apr 05 - 10:49 AM Hello: Clear that a program cannot do it absolutely everything. I was answering of a generic and global form. I have been usuary of Sibelius and I have installed Finale. When discovering Harmony Assistant, I have had the sensation to be before a program with a present and a future, that can be demolishing to its "competitors". The costs of impruductiva people, in Miryad do not exist. For that reason programmers can so offer a so phenomenal product to a price bajo.Con very workers and made an effort, they estan being able to very gain users satisfied every day, and that in addition, like I, admires to them and he thanks for the power to them to enjoy a so good tool and price but that esequible. The interface is indscriptible. He is powerful and totally complete. I invite to all those that compose to that they prove the functionalities of this JEWEL. www.myriad-online.com. |
Subject: RE: Music Composition Software? From: M.Ted Date: 08 Apr 05 - 06:14 PM I use Overture, which has moved, once again, and is now supported by GenieSoft--Overture has full midi sequencing capacity, and full orchestral notation capacity--a lot ofprofessionals who do soundtracks, show scores, and studio background tracks use it for this reason. It allows you to create a layer that uses standard musical conventions to notate the MIDI, without altering the MIDI performance. This means that you can notate jazz eight notes (which are played dotted eighth /sixteenth) as eight notes(which is how they are written) without changing the underlying MIDI capture-- This is very, very, very, important, because, as you know, nowdays, a lot of recordings combine a MIDI capture with real instrumental tracks, and the composer has to retain the underlying track(and, yes, I know, it often is more complex than simply a MIDI capture) and also provide a full Orchestral Score. For this reason, you need to have a program that is both a full capability orchestra notation program and a full capability seqeuncing program. The Overture program now is available for both PC and Mac, and the OSX-- |
Subject: RE: Music Composition Software? From: shepherdlass Date: 09 Apr 05 - 04:57 PM Cakewalk's OK but it used to have problems (which may have been ironed out - it's a while since I programmed) such as not being able to specify a certain number of bars per stave, which is so useful if you need to give out the dots for quick sightreading. The ideal situation that gives you the best of all worlds and quick results is to program with a midi sequencer like Cakewalk or Cubase and then shift the finished product over to Sibelius for tarting up as a score - cost-wise, I noticed someone has already mentioned that there are cracked copies available, not that I'd know anything about that... |

Subject: RE: Music Composition Software? From: JohnInKansas Date: 21 Apr 05 - 01:00 PM Well ... It will make it easy for her to eliminate a lot of the programs that have been suggested ... Most - or at least many - of the commercial programs have Mac versions. For freeware/shareware it's usually easy to tell which system they're written for. John |
