I will be giving our 'team manager' Little Legs Padgett his instructions on way from Barnsley to Saddleworth. It's no more Mr Nice Guys and Gals this year. We will be like leeds United in the 60's and use every dirty trick in't book. Watch out Scowie Stan and Sid we will wipe that pesky lanky smile reet of tha faces tha knaws.

Be good to see you, Cath. Sunday's my busy day: meet the artist (shurely shome mishtake? - ed), looping workshop and sing out the festival) but I'll buy you a cup of tea or something stronger if you can get me in between. And, yes, I'm planning on the miniscule detour via The Old Bridge to reaquaint myself with Mike Stand.

And, Ali, I'm not sure your influence over the weather has quite done the trick. Metcheck's saying "pleasant enough, if you don't mind it on the cool side, with a little overnight rain to freshen things up on Friday night and maybe some showers* on Sunday." I think the occasional Jamieson's will make it seem all right, though.

*And we all know what a shower in Uppermill is the equivalent of in normal language.

Both Soldier Boy. You can either go round to the Festial Office first, or go over to the campsite - considering the lack of car parking spaces, you're better with the 2nd option really. And stewards will be selling campsite permits there - Tony and Dave on the Thursday / Friday.
If you arrive on the Thursday, head round to the Wagon for the Meet and Greet Session which Geoff Miller will be running from around 9p.m.. Nice to see old friends and faces.

Even without the Folk Festival, Uppermill is a very attractive village.

I would recommend it for a day or a weekend.

There's music in the pubs as well as the organised stuff and as most of the events happen along the length of one street (apart from a short detour to the Civic Hall) you can't get lost

Saturday's probably the best day, with around 30 events, but Uppermill is a lovely place to be all weekend, quite apart from the Festival, as Hazel (Nutty) said.

Car packed - off we go only to find that our remote village is cut off from the outside world by floodwater from the fields. Hopefully if the rain eases we should be able to make another attempt in a couple of hours. From one of Andrew's latest songs "Should we fly or swim or what?" - just don't ask about damp matches!!

The campsite has a lake now - very pretty. And 2 enterprising stewards have made signs directing campers to the shallow or deep end of the swimming pool! But they're all in such good spirits that it's amazing!

The Civic Hall was full for the concert - 400+ people - with fantastic guests including Eric Bogle and John Munro, and Strawhead. But for many the highlight of the concert was our own Hissyfit, who were just brilliant! Eric and John, of course, were just wonderful - there couldn't have been anyone in the hall who wasn't joining in the songs. Very emotional.

Off to bed now - long day ahead tomorrow!

Brill weekend. Now back home recovering!
Well done Yorkshire team for winning the war of the roses. Think ossonflags was their secret weapon !
Many thanks to Alio and all committee members/stewards/volunteers/helpers - brilliant work as usual.
I warned you to bring yer wellies and I was right (and then forgot to take mine with me! - doh!)
Loved sense of humour on campsite where stewards had put up sign announcing "Life Boat station" by stewards tent.
I was one of the silly buggers camping in a tent all weekend but I am glad to say that the tent,although severly tested,did its job and remained watertight.
Had a superb session outside The Waggon late Saturday night where entertainment was provided by The Free Sandwiches band and my mate Muppett.
All in all a really smashing weekend.

I know I put in a request for rain -- but I didn't want that much.
However it did keep the mossies at bay.

Couldn't dampen the spirit of the festival though - it was superb as always. Many thanks to all those involved and also those people who attended the workshops.

Looking forward to next year already. Think I'll invest in an electric wheelchair though.

Enjoyed many events culminating in the survivors' session at Greenfield Con Club, followed by the late night party in our campervan.

Thank you so much for the wonderful messages - I'm still on a high after the weekend.
Hopefully, though, I can get some sleep now - 1a.m. Thursday, 2a.m. Friday, 3a.m. Saturday, and 2.45 a.m. Sunday is no good for my age! And I can't imagine who'd finished off the 2 bottles of Jamieson's which I found in the bin this morning! Maureen and Joe, and Dave and Ann Howden came back to my flat after the wonderful Survivors Session, so I blame them! Did you hear us singing Miner's Life?
I still can't believe it took 4 hours to let everyone do 1 song in the final session - I found it all really emotional.
So many highs over the weekend - far too numerous to mention. But I loved my MCing spots - some superb artists. And of course, seeing everyone again. Dave and Ann Howden say that my face lights up when I see people - but is it surprising when there are so many lovely people coming to Saddleworth? Thanks all of you.

Great festival once again Ali! Thanks to everyone!
My highlight was The Young'uns - unbelievable! They made my weekend and that concert on Saturday night was amazing. I've never known a group get such an ovation from the audience who could have listened to them all night!! I hope that they are booked for next year Ali to headline because they are terrific and I know I speak for the vast majority!!

Well solder boy, i was another 'silly buggers camping in a tent' from Friday eve to Monday but dispite the rain and spungy field (& no food tent this year), the 12th Saddleworth (my 11th) was once again a really enjoyable afair.

Yes guest Tim, the Young'Uns were 'unbelievable'. Once again younger talent shines through at Saddleworth. Were there really only 3 of em, sounded like an acapello quoir at times; great humour, clever original arrangements of soem great songs and brill instrument playing too especially on the 'ice cream vam'.

Great to see Linda and the full Hissyfit back again; the lovely voice of Jan Shevlin of Better Late; the hilarious New Ropes; always fab Box Fox and a great set and sad farewell to Eric Bogle & John Munroe as they retire from touring; + many more. Sorry i'm waffling on.....so many thanks Ali and all the committee.

Roll on the 13th !
