Salsa; I was not around most of the weekend, but heard many very positive comments. It has been many years since that was possible, and many folk felt that your meals contributed strongly to the overall community feeling of this festival. Thank You.

Indeed, Marc. There have been times in the past when it felt like the food service folks were almost hostile to the crew, performers and volunteers. The return to a more relaxed, family like setting - even with the pressure of running around from site to site- promoted a good sense of positive morale.
Folks knew that their well being was an important concern and the kitchen crew did their best to ensure everyone was taken care of. Though it seems that a number of performers had no idea what the $10 food voucher was for. sigh... :)

Weather permitting, it would be nice to set up a picnic blanket on the village green and have a Mudcat Box Lunch for a meet & greet. I know there are still plenty of catters out there I have yet to put a face to.

At Charlie's request, another of my videos from Mystic, this one of Roll & Go from the "Fitting Out" concert Thursday night.

http://youtu.be/zpGX4aD44RE

Alas, I forgot to check that my camera battery was fully charged before I left home, and because our flight was delayed by the storm there was no time to charge it before the concert. I couldn't record as much as I wanted to and finished off the evening with about two minutes of battery life left!

Kathy-

Roll & Go is honored to have exhausted your battery. Does this mean that our group sucks up energy? We like to think we generate energy.

That's really the best video we've seen of us doing the work we love.

Cheerily,
Charley Noble

Kathy, good job with that video, too. I also watched the one with Tom Kastle and Kapriol'! singing Hand over Hand. Anonymous Guest, you have a good idea, but it might be hard to find a time to meet for a meal. It would have to be at time when everyone has arrived by whatever means of transportation, no one has departed, and there is no music going on!

Chanty Lass, that was me sans "cookies". A reminder once again that the kid is also a technoklutz. I was thinking that Sat. would be a good day, near the gazebo. We can give it more thought before next year. lol

Now I saw lots of folks snapping photos at the Festival. How about doing some editing and posting a link to where we can view them? I'd love to see what I've missed.

I've only got about 500 more to run through myself, mostly of the Saturday evening concert, the C. Fox Smith Workshop and the Grand Finale. The late night sessions over at the German dancehall are the most challenging to photograph; the lighting is very low and it's difficult to find one good location to shoot from.

Cheerily,
Charley Noble

I really didn't take any photos this year, just used the video camera. I will slowly be uploading some of them on YouTube to this channel:

In addition to the two previously mentioned here, so far I've also uploaded:
Tom Kastle: http://youtu.be/ONmIANENqj8
Rick Spencer: http://youtu.be/ABILPHPnOYg
Rick Spencer again, with Marc Bernier and Geoff Kaufman: http://youtu.be/T0qJIfJYEuo

Kathy, I agree with Charley: good work. I'm curious about how you decide what to record knowing you can't capture everything.

Sciencegeek, a good time for a Saturday Mudcat picnic might be after the end of the afternoon concert but before the start of the evening concert. I think we are allowed to stay on the grounds although I usually leave to grab something to eat. There isn't enough time between the Saturday symposium and the start of the afternoon concerts. However, performers for the next concert might have to do sound checks. As you said, we have a lot of time to think about this.

Here's the next set of Mystic photos that JudyB took of Sunday afternoon workshops, June 12, primarily of Roll & Go, Mike Kennedy and Margaret McCandless at the C. Fox Smith Workshop: Click here for PIXS!

Judy's camera does a good job of reaching out and nabbing nice images in less than perfect lighting conditions, as long as someone doesn't move.

Oh! Wish I could. I guess many others wish they could, too. Robbie O'Connell was at Saturday's Blackstone River Theatre Summer Solstice Festival in Cumberland, RI, on Saturday with his cousin Aoife Clancy. Also, Laura Travis, host of Mystic's closing concert, hosted the Traditions stage. Nice to see them again so soon.

We had a nice concert last evening a the Maine Maritime Museum with Danny Spooner. Dany's now working on his world famous meatloaf in the kitchen. Tomorrow we send him and Gael off to the West's in Wells, Maine, and then it's on West to the Old Songs Festival.

I'm doing my final edits of the closing concert and I'm blanking on the name of the woman MC who is also a local radio announcer.

The Johnson Girls will be performing in Maine next Saturday evening at the Winter Street Church in Bath, 7:30 pm, as a benefit for the Maine Maritime Museum Sea Music Concert Series established in honor of Bill and Gene Bonyun. Thank you, Kathy, for posting the videos you did of Tim and Kenny. Although I raced from the Cape Cod Maritime Festival, where I played a Barnacle performance, I saw Deidre, and vaulted the gate at the Seaport at 6 p.m., raced to the shed hoping to catch Marc, Tim, and Kenny, I missed them and only caught the final Leave Her Johnny.

Thanks to you, Kathy, I did get to see two performances by the boyz. Thanks.

Barnacle Babe (Mary of Barnacle)
