Subject: RE: BS: Dick Greenhaus: Surgery From: Susan of DT Date: 16 Feb 05 - 12:06 PM Thank you everyone. Subject: RE: BS: Dick Greenhaus: Surgery From: Ferrara Date: 16 Feb 05 - 02:49 PM Susan, I'm told that hugging a pillow will also make the drive home easier on the incision as well as protecting it from the seat belt. If he still isn't having any pain --wonderful! -- then he may not need it. Love you both, and thank you for keeping everyone in touch. Rita |

Subject: RE: BS: Dick Greenhaus: Surgery From: Susan of DT Date: 19 Feb 05 - 06:50 AM Thanx again, all of you. What we need at NEFFA is: 1) one or two people to help unload the car/setup the booth on Friday afternoon (hours before the festival opens) 2) one or two people to help breakdown/load the car on Sunday evening 3) people to stop by, visit, and give us a break to get away from the booth now and again during the festival. We use a hand truck, but it is still a lot of work. There are around 1000 pounds of CDs plus assorted boxes of books, boxed sets, and stuff for the booth. The tables and display unit travel on top of the car. Susan |
Subject: RE: BS: Dick Greenhaus: Surgery From: GUEST,WYSIWYG Date: 19 Feb 05 - 08:28 AM Wait just a minute, Dick-- as anyone who has had surgery knows, there are TWO OTHER things you have to have been able to do, besides walk, before they let you out. :~) So that was an incomplete report. But--- thanks for not sharing the details! ~Susan |
Subject: RE: BS: Dick Greenhaus: Surgery From: CET Date: 20 Feb 05 - 06:41 AM Susan and Dick: Well, thank God for that! I just saw this thread or I would have posted earlier. I'm looking forward to seeing you both at the Getaway. Edmund |

Subject: RE: BS: Dick Greenhaus: Surgery From: dick greenhaus Date: 20 Feb 05 - 08:23 PM The new theory seems to be get 'em out ASAP. The goal appears to be a complete release the day before surgery is cheduled--presumably to reduce custodial costs. |
Subject: RE: BS: Dick Greenhaus: Surgery From: curmudgeon Date: 20 Feb 05 - 08:45 PM You must be one tough old bird, Dick. I didn't get out for another ten days after my surgery. Of course, I did develop a bleeding ulcer and had to have a jump starter installed.. Hope to see you at NEFFA -- Tom |
Subject: RE: BS: Dick Greenhaus: Surgery From: Pauline L Date: 27 Feb 05 - 12:01 AM Dick, I've heard that someone from the hospital's business office tells you to get up off the operating table and walk home. I've haven't had any updates in about a week. I hope that you're doing well, all things considered. |
Subject: RE: BS: Dick Greenhaus: Surgery From: Amos Date: 27 Feb 05 - 12:21 AM They noticed that more people catch infections of one or another sort in hospitals than anywhere else, so now they try to get you home as early as they can so they don't make ya sick, see? A |
Subject: RE: BS: Dick Greenhaus: Surgery From: dianavan Date: 27 Feb 05 - 06:48 PM Glad that you are back on your feet so soon. I recently had a big scare but the doctors told me that I am a very healthy person. When I asked how that could be when I have been hospitalized for unrelated reasons three times in the last two years, they smiled and said, "But you always bounce back! Your recovery is rapid and you regain your strength quickly." So just remember to be kind to yourself, drink lots of water and eat well. BTW - Is there someone at home to look after you at this time? Those day to day chores can be cumbersome and make you weary. I hope you are getting support - emotional and otherwise. |
Subject: RE: BS: Dick Greenhaus: Surgery From: dick greenhaus Date: 27 Feb 05 - 08:43 PM Still pluggin' along, with deep and heartfelt thanx to Susan, my son and my daughter who are disrupting their lives to help make mine easier. Looking forward to seeing some of y'all at NEFFA. |
Subject: RE: BS: Dick Greenhaus: Surgery From: SINSULL Date: 27 Feb 05 - 09:02 PM Welcome back to the land of the living, Dick. Did they give you a cute little heart shaped pillow before they tossed you out the door? Useless but decorative, as far as I can tell. I expect to be at NEFFA and will do what I can to help you and Susan out. MAry |
Subject: RE: BS: Dick Greenhaus: Surgery From: wysiwyg Date: 27 Feb 05 - 09:06 PM Dick, we're still thinking of you all, and of course that leads inexorably to prayer cuz that's how we are. Come let us take care of you if cabin fever sets in! ~Susan |
