Subject: RE: BS: 2009 Dec. De-clutter & Accountability From: VirginiaTam Date: 31 Dec 09 - 10:55 AM It seems that all the random dust in the universe finds it way to our house. Sorry Michelle - the dust I just eschewed from our flat might very well be on its way to you now. Kat - good to know I am following tradition. Was planning an early night but now I think I will watch Jools Holland Hootenanny (Hogmany celebration) tonight. |

De-clutter & Accountability From: wysiwyg Date: 31 Dec 09 - 11:45 AM Our view has always been that our real ission in camping is to transfer dust and dirt from state to state. In support of a diversified ecosytem of course. Must not clean camper before leaving any campground-- must take to the next and track the dust all over that campsite, and so forth. For that paragraph, I'm taking out a big grocery bag of glass noodles and giving it to our favorite chef for his New Year's party plan. Off now to go play with it in HIS kitchen. :~) ~S~ |
Subject: RE: BS: 2009 Dec. De-clutter & Accountability From: Stilly River Sage Date: 31 Dec 09 - 07:55 PM I'm back from the second trip out on this cold drippy blustery evening. I forgot the apple juice (it's so cold it seems a good evening to warm a pan of apple juice and put some mulling spices in) and the chips. We have a couple of types of dip. And for dinner, it will be "surf and turf" in a nice steak and I have some breaded popcorn shrimp (yes, I know, it's not like the fancy restaurants, but it'll work for a 17-year-old). A nice salad (have to begin as we mean to continue, by eating something healthy) along with it. I haven't gotten a lot of cleaning done, but I did pick up the pump soap dispensers I'm going to try with some of Dr. Bronner's healthy soaps, to see if that helps my hands. But until he walks in the door, I think I'll sweep and dust and vacuum and see how much I can get done. (He has been over at his dad's house today. Usually he spends New Year's eve and stays overnight there, so I'm not sure why I got lucky, but I'll try to make it festive). SRS |
Subject: RE: BS: 2009 Dec. De-clutter & Accountability From: LilyFestre Date: 31 Dec 09 - 08:19 PM I had another day of doing absolutely nothing around the house....unless shaving my legs counts! ;P I had my pre-op physical today and all medical clearances have been signed. Also, my Dr. gave me additional meds to go with the Xanax so there might be a slight possibility of me being able to pull my head out of my ass for a few minutes a day at the very least. Seriously though, I'm looking forward to some relief. I've done everything my Dr., priest and family have suggested. I clearly need a little extra help and I'm very thankful for that. Also, some very excellent medical news IN WRITING from my surgeon. I still need surgery but a great deal of stress has been lifted. Praise God!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Michelle |
Subject: RE: BS: 2009 Dec. De-clutter & Accountability From: LilyFestre Date: 31 Dec 09 - 08:22 PM Oh and as far as New Year's goes....I made Shrimp Scampi and am all cozy in my jammies sitting in front of the fire. Somebody count down the last few seconds of the year for me....I'm pretty sure I'll be sound asleep by then...happens just about every year....I have the best of intentions but never quite make it! Happy New Year My Friends, Michelle |
Subject: RE: BS: 2009 Dec. De-clutter & Accountability From: maire-aine Date: 31 Dec 09 - 10:58 PM It's a good thing I'm not a traditional Scot. But I did catch up on all my bills today, and dropped the payments in the mail. My friend & I went to the movies (Sherlock Holmes) this afternoon, and got sandwiches for supper. We stopped at one place that had a special NYE dinner, and I almost choked when I saw the prices. I said "let's get out of here". I was home by 8pm. If I'm still awake at midnight, I'll go out on the porch and ring my big brass bell. Happy New Year, everybody. Maryanne |
Subject: RE: BS: 2009 Dec. De-clutter & Accountability From: VirginiaTam Date: 01 Jan 10 - 05:42 AM GOOD NEWS, Michelle. What a great way to start the New Year. I made double batch of vegetarian chili last night. Two portions now frozen for future. Made a very good start on first jigsaw (Cats of the World) and found it wonderfully relaxing. Watched/listened to Jools Holland. Rather enjoyed Florence and the Machine. She has a Gracie Slick flava. Paloma Faith was fun and very retro with TV is the Thing This Year. Kasabian was a bit derivative, Boy George was disappointing (very surprising to me because I used to like his stuff). Rodrigo y Gabriella were utterly .... wonderful falls short... words fail CLICK I love Paulo Nutini Pencil Full Of Lead And Ruby Turner... Damn! That mamma can wail! Dizzy Rascal don't get a mention. Sorry mate, not my cup of poison. Then we watched the fireworks set off from London Eye on TV and were so happy we were not with the people who had been waiting for 8 hours jealously guarding their front row spots, standing in cold and showers. But now I wish I was young and fit enough to do that, if only once. Woke about 4 times last night. Treated to full moon shining down on frosting of snow at about 3:50am. That has to be a good omen for 2010. TODAY - Brekkers was pancakes with lemon and sugar (I know it is not Shrove Tuesday - I just fancied them). A long leisurely bath with book and cup of hazelnut coffee beckons. More puzzle fun. Dinner will be Portugese eggs, jacket potatoes and roasted red and yellow peppers and red onion. Happy New Year everyone. |

Subject: RE: BS: 2009 Dec. De-clutter & Accountability From: VirginiaTam Date: 01 Jan 10 - 10:05 AM Hard cooked eggs sliced in half, baked in a cheese sauce. TSO's mum makes them. Now I do too. |
Subject: RE: BS: 2009 Dec. De-clutter & Accountability From: wysiwyg Date: 01 Jan 10 - 12:36 PM Delightful evening.... 'nuff said! Portuguese eggs sounds a bit like how we do P-Vine's Egg Gravy (I've posted about it often). Today's chores (Hardi is home) include packing up that beef we roasted. Roasted it plain, and now the slices will be post-marinated before freezing. (The new freezer has a LIGHT inside!!!) ~Susan |

De-clutter & Accountability From: wysiwyg Date: 01 Jan 10 - 05:41 PM H'ain't seen the new thread so I'll put it here, since it goes with prior posts-- the rugs were indeed cut and allocated as planned. I took the biggest one for my cold office and have heavy, winter curtains ON HAND to MATCH!!! ~Susan |
