Bank Glitch Delays Wages
Updated: 08:15, Friday March 30, 2007

Up to 400,000 people are facing delays in their salary payments because of a problem with an electronic banking system.

The Banks Automated Clearing System has been running slowly and has not sent out all payments in time.

The BACS is responsible for processing financial transactions.

A spokeswoman for payments association Apacs said affected workers should be paid by Monday.

Sandra Quinn said any customers who were concerned should contact their bank immediately.

Mine made it OK but I feel for those who due to this problem may face knock on charges if bills etc were paid taking them overdrawn. I hope the banks will refund any costs incurred.

I was paid on time but what a terrible worry for people who weren't.

Banks say any extra charges incurred by the glitch will be covered.

I'm not affected but just wondered if they have also put anything in place for those people who don't have enough in the account to draw cash this weekend?

Charges can be reclaimed but what about credit scoring marks for people when their bills bounce which puts a black mark on file

My partner is still waiting for the money to hit his account with no idication from the bank as to when it will come. Who can you speak to?

All the staff I paid received theirs on time, thank goodness. Oh for the days when we received out money in cash in a little brown envelope..... happy days ;-) Goodness me that was a VERY long time ago ;^O
