I'm trying to put together something new and need some new Orwellian terms for things that used to be straight forward like "The Great Depression" "foreclosure" "President"

Even a compendium, of recent terms like Rendition are welcome.

Not exactly what you're looking for but when I see "The Great Depression" nowadays, I think "Zoloft Generation."

I also think, when I see or hear Bush, "The Great Depressor" and "The Fear-Mongerer."

To be orwellian,a word must have a more"positive" sound."Increase of freedom of choice in the use of one's time" = fired (maybe someone who speaks real english could put it a little better)

And then there's tha all-to-common ones:

"Sending the wrong signal to the enemy" = disagreeing with the White House Policy

"War on Terror" = anything the White House would like to do.

"cutting and running" (admitting you made a huge mistake and it's time to withdraw from an unproductive course of action)

"giving comfort to the enemy" (doing something constructive for a change instead of killing lots more foreign people)

"waffling" (showing you have enough flexibility to change your mind and admit you might have made a mistake in the past)

Dust Bowl - Typical dry season redistribution of top soils unrelated to global effects.

Drought - cyclical water table anomaly.

The story will have to do with a total collapse of the American Southwest and Los Vegas. Lake Mead is currently 84 feet below normal times.
