I know there are lots of flickr users here. I am a complete neophyte when it comes to photos and computers, but would like to learn. Right now I don't even know where on my computer they all exactly are, but would like to get them on web albums and cds so they don't get lost.

I use picasa on my computer and am just finding my way around. I started to set up a flickr account, but the picasa update tells me about their web albums, so it seems to make sense to do that instead.

Anyone using picasa?

Dani

Thanks to BillD, I quit using either one and joined the Opera.com community. It's incredibly easy and very generous for space.:-)

You're allowed to use both..*grin*...

(I have read about Picasa, and evidently it is pretty clever, but I have 8-9 other programs which will browse and show images, and my wife & I have so many different categories that we don't really want them all 'located' for us..We use file managers and the thumbnail display of image viewers to keep track....

The trick is to NAME your pictures in such a way that you can search for them easily.

Well, I confess, I never moved the ones I have on both and at Yahoo, but it's all Opera for me now.:-)

The thing I didn't like about Picasa is not being able to enlarge a picture for a closer look.

A son takes a lot of pictures, and uses Picasa, so I followed his recommendation. It has been upgraded recently, and seems pretty good, but after adobe-ing the better stuff, I generally put it into folders with my handles.

Others are probably just as good.
A new one came in the software of a new digital camera I bought, not bad either, but I stuck with Picasa. Can't remember the name.

Whatever you're most comfortable with is the stock answer. That works for me.

Picasa - simply as it's linked in quite well with my e-mail account, also as you use up memory space, more is allocated without charges.

There have been some other threads about Flickr, and the photo facility looks excellent, but I never took it up from what I understood there are costs the more memory you need. Plus the slide show in Picassa is over a black screen - always enhances an image in my view !

So yes - whatever's comfortable !
