Subject: RE: BS: Friday the thirteenth- Any plans? From: Amos Date: 09 Apr 07 - 05:20 PM In my family we have always observed the day before Friday the thirteenth as "Thursday, the twelfth". Some of us extend this to honoring the following day as "Saturday, the fourteenth". Is that what you mean? A |

Subject: RE: BS: Friday the thirteenth- Any plans? From: beardedbruce Date: 09 Apr 07 - 05:39 PM I'm not knocking it. I usually buy a lottery ticket on Friday the 13th, as it is more lucky for me than other days... of so it seems. |
Subject: RE: BS: Friday the thirteenth- Any plans? From: Bee-dubya-ell Date: 09 Apr 07 - 05:50 PM I shall not go skydiving, hang-gliding, or rock-climbing. The fact that I've neither done nor have any intentions of ever doing any of those three activities is irrelevent. I still won't be doing them this Friday. |

Subject: RE: BS: Friday the thirteenth- Any plans? From: George Papavgeris Date: 09 Apr 07 - 06:42 PM Being a staunch antitriskaidekaphobe I will: - not wear odd socks or my vest inside out for the day - establish ladders around the house so I can walk under them frequently - pop down to the pet shop and replace our recently departed moggy with an all-black one - go up to every priest I meet and shake him/her by the hand Meanwhile, Nessie (another antitriskaidekaphobe) will be spending the whole 24 hours of the day on a plane to Australia. |
Subject: RE: BS: Friday the thirteenth- Any plans? From: Becca72 Date: 09 Apr 07 - 07:03 PM "Never walk under a black cat!" I have 2 black cats whom I never walk under...but what happens if they walk OVER me?? Would seem only fair that they get the bad luck, eh? I have to say that all in all Friday the 13th has generally turned out to be a good day for me in the past, so I look forward to it. |

Skipy What were you thinking?! Just kidding. The way I got myself out of superstitious rituals was to deliberately think or say things like- Oh, there's a black cat in my path. I'm going to have a good day today. Eventually my brain just gave up. |

Subject: RE: BS: Friday the thirteenth- Any plans? From: TRUBRIT Date: 09 Apr 07 - 11:23 PM My office is home to some 175 realtors....a decision was made to move to bigger and better space but some lunatic decreed the day be this Friday the 13th. I am a quivering wreck. My office will be in boxes, my office phone won't be working, I will have no order in my life over the weekend, and all in all - it's not a pretty thought. And I lose the view of the water I have had for over five years now and swap it for a view of the highway....... Fairly typical Friday 13th perhaps? Just remembering to avoid black cats like the plague...... |
Subject: RE: BS: Friday the thirteenth- Any plans? From: katlaughing Date: 10 Apr 07 - 12:22 AM Oh, TrueBrit!{{{HUGS}}}} Take the day off and know it will all come out smooth after the weekend.:-) (Sorry about the view loss, though.) I have always taken great delight in Friday the 13th being a lucky day for me, so I look forward to it. It seems kind of odd, though, first time in my life I've been without a black cat. |
Subject: RE: BS: Friday the thirteenth- Any plans? From: TRUBRIT Date: 10 Apr 07 - 12:34 AM Us too! Our black kitty had to be sent to his maker this year - cancer....nasty stuff. I shall be forced to take the day off because they are doing a lockdown at work!!!!!! Everything has to be moved across town and real estate agents tend to be Type A personalities like me so the only way to stop us working is to literally lock us out. Thank you for your condolences..... I am considering sulking for quite a while over losing my view. |

Subject: RE: BS: Friday the thirteenth- Any plans? From: Schantieman Date: 11 Apr 07 - 03:53 PM I'll nearly be setting sail - will actually be in a dinghy tomorrow (Thurs) and at sea in a motor boat on Sat. On Friday I'll be safely sitting in a classroom on Whale Island. Apparently (I learn from a recently acquired book) some time early in the last century (doesn't it seem strange to talk of the 20th like that?) the Royal Navy wanted to disprove the myth that it was unlucky to go to sea on a Friday. So they ordered a new ship on a Friday, its keel was laid on a Friday and it was launched on a Friday. They even found a Captain by the name of Friday to command it and of course it set sail on its maiden voyage on a Friday. It was never heard of again. Or so it says. Steve |

Subject: RE: BS: Friday the thirteenth- Any plans? From: Little Hawk Date: 11 Apr 07 - 07:41 PM I intend to drive drunk down the wrong side of the highway, walk into local bars and insult big guys with tattoos, and then see if I can rob the Imperial Bank armed with only a squirt gun and a tongue depressor. I want to see if there's really anything to this Friday the Thirteenth nonsense. |
Subject: RE: BS: Friday the thirteenth- Any plans? From: TRUBRIT Date: 11 Apr 07 - 10:25 PM Giok - for once, I am speechless! What wonderful pictures - such colors -- really gorgeous. I will now officially stop whining over my lost view -- it pales into insignificance against views like these. |

Subject: RE: BS: Friday the thirteenth- Any plans? From: Sandra in Sydney Date: 12 Apr 07 - 05:28 AM singing session Friday night! Giok - I wasn't speechless, I kept saying "oooh" & have sent the link to a photographer friend. TRUBRIT - the view from my window is onto the walls & windows of the next building, & sometimes the folks in the next building, who occasionally forget they can be viewed! My view on my computer desk is lovely postcards & pictures - sunset, autumn gardens, a snowy scene, polar bears, waterfalls. Can you cover your walls with beautiful pics, or one beautiful pic of your lost view? Or maybe just 1 pic on your desk if your office does not allow private decorations? sandra |
Subject: RE: BS: Friday the thirteenth- Any plans? From: JennyO Date: 12 Apr 07 - 10:11 AM I'm really looking forward to spending a very quiet day at home, for a change. The day after I got back from a very enjoyable, but exhausting festival, I had to run around doing things for my daughter, and the more low-key day today was not as restful as I had hoped either. So tomorrow is going to be just for me - catching up on little things around the house and the garden, and generally enjoying pottering. The weekend is shaping up to be rather busy, so I'm going to give tomorrow night's session a miss - not like me, but I need the break. |
Subject: RE: BS: Friday the thirteenth- Any plans? From: Ebbie Date: 12 Apr 07 - 02:30 PM Well, I'll start the day at 9 o'clock playing for a dance for three hours, then I'll have breakfast at that hall, then I'll jam with whoever will have me. Along about 3:00 I'll come home and spend time with my critters. Around 6 o'clock I'll go to a different hall where the Folk Festival is being put on, where I'll soak up the music until 11 o'clock when I'll either go home for the night or to just drop by home briefly to take the leetle dog out and go back to one of the numerous jammng spots. By Thursday most of the out of towm musicians are here for the Festival - many of whome we see only once a year - and it is also the first concert of the Guest Artists. This year's GAs are the Carolina Chocolate Drops and, from everything we have heard, we anticipate enjoying them hugely. |
