Subject: BS: L Kelly's little book of phone numbers From: Linda Kelly Date: 12 Apr 07 - 04:48 PM I bet you used to think I was really ignorant and never telephoned you-but now I have an excuse! Modern technology being somewhat beyond me I have managed to delete all the telephone numbers in my mobile If you think your number was in there, or if you think I should have it then can you pm me with your number. Sorry Im blaming arthritis and an over sensitive key pad! |
Subject: RE: BS: L Kelly's little book of phone numbers From: Joe Offer Date: 12 Apr 07 - 05:06 PM Hmmmm. I wonder how poor Linda deleted all her phone numbers in one swell foop... Let's see, if I turn on my phone, press this button here and that button there, Oooops! Gee, Linda, I suppose it's rude to laugh at your expense, but your predicament rings true for most of us, I'm afraid. Good luck. -Joe Offer- |
Subject: RE: BS: L Kelly's little book of phone numbers From: open mike Date: 12 Apr 07 - 05:08 PM this is expecially difficult as only land line numbers can be looked up in directory assistance services or in phone books...good luck. |
Subject: RE: BS: L Kelly's little book of phone numbers From: Linda Kelly Date: 12 Apr 07 - 05:13 PM actually Joe it was exactly like that-but I don't think it was followed by the word Oops! I should have kept a paper copy! |
Subject: RE: BS: L Kelly's little book of phone numbers From: autolycus Date: 12 Apr 07 - 05:49 PM Bit like that Ben Elton gag. They say the internet is amazing, that you can call down any book you want,go to the page you want, even to the very paragraph you need. Bit like a library. Ivor |

Subject: RE: BS: L Kelly's little book of phone numbers From: John MacKenzie Date: 13 Apr 07 - 03:47 AM After a couple of crashes, and a power loss wipe out, I have become paranoid about this happening to me again. I now use an HP PDA/Phone which uses MS Outlook, so I can type all the details into my PC, transfer it to my PDA, I also keep a print out in a desk drawer. Cautious moi? Do you have a blue tooth phone Linda? Perhaps you can set up something via your PC using that, then you'd have back up. Giok |
Subject: RE: BS: L Kelly's little book of phone numbers From: wysiwyg Date: 13 Apr 07 - 06:31 AM Wouldn't your recent phone billing hisory contain some info? You might have to special-request it as a detail, but maybe your hardcopy bills already hold some of the numbers-- the recent calls anyway. ~S~ |

Subject: RE: BS: L Kelly's little book of phone numbers From: gnomad Date: 14 Apr 07 - 03:31 PM Once you find 'em all you might be interested in a little device I saw in a little shop selling mail order returned goods - it claimed to be a backup device for mobiles. Sounded like a good idea and cost <£5 if I remember aright. Good to see Sir John back in circulation, and evidently still on good form. |
Subject: RE: BS: L Kelly's little book of phone numbers From: GUEST, Topsie Date: 14 Apr 07 - 08:13 PM I have a handy little device for backing up my phone numbers. It's called a 'paper and pen', and it only goes wrong temporarily when I need to get a new pen or another piece of paper. |
Subject: RE: BS: L Kelly's little book of phone numbers From: Mr Red Date: 15 Apr 07 - 02:00 PM Last time I lost all the phone numbers in my mobile phone - was when I lost the phone. I keep it on a piece of chord now - round my neck - but only if I need it like at festivals. As any computer geek will tell you - wbere's the back-up disk? Or in this case the piece of paper. |
