I've been trying to pick out the melody & arrange Ewan MacColl's "Freeborn Man of the Travelling People" on my C/G anglo concertina -- with difficulty. It appears to be in the key of A or A minor, which is very tough to play in on the C/G concertina. Does anybody have an ABC file that I can use to do a transposition? (Or better yet, the transposition itself either in ABC format or in pdf'd or jpg'd music notation.) Any other concertina players out there?

-- Etan

The site Peace linked to was a Google cache of "Yet Another Digital Tradition," a mirror of our Digital Tradition Folk Song Database that provides our tunes in a number of forms of notation. I hope one will work for you.
I changed to a direct link to "Yet Another" for the sake of clarity.

The link shows it in A which I agree, is awkward on the anglo. Transpose down a tone to G should make it OK. Of course there is then the issue of how it sits with your voice.

I would transpose up a minor third to C which would suit my voice better (singing an octave below written). It is a song I have long been meaning to learn, so thanks to Peace for the link. I have no excuse now <g>.

Welcome.

Joe, I looked in the DT but that version didn't have Notation, ABC, etc. It was just the lyrics. That's why I went with the numachi site.

If you drop the ABC FILE into the converter   HERE   you can transpose into any key you wish.

Here you go for chords
It's the key of 'G but there is a chords changer on the site if G' does not suit your voice
