Subject: BS: Whatever happened to... From: katlaughing Date: 29 Apr 07 - 12:20 PM floral print bath towels? For years I have searched the internet looking for towels made of material which has printed flowered patterns. NOT appliqued or just printed on the borders, but towels like my mom and I both favoured. I still have one or two left, but they are so threadbare they don't sop up much of anything any more. I love the vibrant colours available today but I want flowers! Anyone know of any, anywhere? Feel free to add anything similar thing you may have been nostalgic for, too. Thanks, kat |

Subject: RE: BS: Whatever happened to... From: katlaughing Date: 29 Apr 07 - 12:43 PM Thanks, Art. For some reason my browser won't open the thumbnails, but from what I can tell those aren't exactly what I am looking for. I would like something with multiple tones of colours, ya know...green leaves and stems, pretty differently coloured flowers...a little bit of nature a la naturel.:-) |
Subject: RE: BS: Whatever happened to... From: Stilly River Sage Date: 29 Apr 07 - 02:25 PM The Vermont Country Store frequently has some of those "old fashioned" items that people continue to want. http://www.vermontcountrystore.com/ |
Subject: RE: BS: Whatever happened to... From: katlaughing Date: 29 Apr 07 - 04:44 PM Thanks, SRS, I've checked them a few times. Nothing with a floral pattern. I'm telling you, it's weird. I think it's a giant conspiracy. Some Martha Stewart clone or something, on Madison Ave., or heck, maybe in Paris, said "there shall be no flower-printed material used for towelling" and that was it, worldwide! |

Subject: RE: BS: Whatever happened to... From: GUEST,Peter Woodruff Date: 29 Apr 07 - 05:51 PM Kat, You might be able to find some floral print towels at L.L. Reny's in Bath, Maine. I'll look for you next time I go shopping. Peter |

Subject: RE: BS: Whatever happened to... From: katlaughing Date: 29 Apr 07 - 11:17 PM Close on the first one, if it was green instead of blue. Sort of on the second one.Although, I cannot imagine spending $40 on a towel! Thanks, though! That's more than I've been able to find. I'll see about taking a picture of my two left. They weren't my favourites, but they'd do as examples. |
Subject: RE: BS: Whatever happened to... From: JennyO Date: 30 Apr 07 - 06:36 AM There are some nice floral towels on this site, if you scroll down. Still not quite what I was imagining you were looking for. They do seem to be rather 'thin on the ground' don't they! |

Subject: RE: BS: Whatever happened to... From: katlaughing Date: 30 Apr 07 - 10:21 AM Jenny! The #T010 is rather pretty. I like the colours and the smaller sized flowers! Thanks! |
Subject: RE: BS: Whatever happened to... From: artbrooks Date: 30 Apr 07 - 10:31 AM Now personally, I use them for wiping water off of my not-inconsiderable bod after I take a shower rather than as a decorative thing, but to each his own... |
Subject: RE: BS: Whatever happened to... From: Alice Date: 30 Apr 07 - 10:52 AM kat, I think those are vintage tea towels on that site, not bath towels. I looked yesterday and could not find any on the net. You're right, it must be a trend to solids like Martha Stewart. It is easier (cheaper) to produce solids than patterend towels, and easier to color coordinate with other bath items. You might have to wait until fashions change again! |
Subject: RE: BS: Whatever happened to... From: katlaughing Date: 30 Apr 07 - 01:43 PM Yeah, I think you are right, Alice. I knew they were vintage, but thought one or two were bath towels. I have vintage tea towels, so...*sigh*...maybe I'll write a letter to "Martha." Take a letter to Martha Tell her my concerns Say I won't be drying off Without flowers on my towel. |
Subject: RE: BS: Whatever happened to... From: dianavan Date: 30 Apr 07 - 11:56 PM JennyO - We had a tea towel like TOO9. Nostalgia is right! How can you forget something that you wiped dishes with for years and years and years? kat - Don't worry, like everything else, if you wait long enough they'll be back in fashion. I haven't seen any of those colouful florals for awhile now. Expect to start seeing them again, soon. |
Subject: RE: BS: Whatever happened to... From: Sorcha Date: 01 May 07 - 02:17 AM My vintage tea towels were hand embroidered! Days of the week, flowers or herbs, etc.....and they were not terry cloth. That leaves shreds of terry stuff on the dishes. They were 100% cotton 'toweling'. I don't know what else to call it. Like outing flannel but no fuzzies. |
