Subject: BS: Goodbye Tony B.lair From: Stu Date: 10 May 07 - 05:37 AM Well, as I write this (10.35am, 10.05.07) Tony is on his way to his constituency to announce his resignation. On the plus side, he gave us the minimum wage and his not-inconsiderable achievements with regards to the peace process in Norther Ireland. On the minus side, he's dragged us into a war we didn't want by becoming an obsequious little poodle to the world's most boorish, unintelligent tosser born this side of Twatsville, US and encouraged the bizzies to confiscate the Tibetan flag from legitimate protestors opposing the occupation of a sovereign nation. That's how I'll remember him, but what will history say about his premiership? |

Subject: RE: BS: Goodbye Tony B.lair From: Mr Fox Date: 10 May 07 - 06:19 AM What will history say? "Blair? Blair? Who he? Oh, wasn't he vice-president of the US?" |
Subject: RE: BS: Goodbye Tony B.lair From: alanabit Date: 10 May 07 - 06:21 AM History will say that he failed to take Britain into the Euro when he needed to and when he had a big enough majority to take the risk. It will also say that he made himself look a fool by failing to initiate a debate on Britain declaring an independent foreign policy (and paying for it). Had he done that, he would have been in a position to stay out of the Iraq disaster. As he accepted the status quo, he was left with no choice but to accept decisions, which were made over his head. At the moment, mere British Prime Ministers do not interfere in such things! He is not a bad man and he rid us of the most right wing Conservatives, which our country had seen for generations. Lack of ambition is an unusual failing in a politician, but I fear it was his major failing. |
Subject: RE: BS: Goodbye Tony B.lair From: Wolfgang Date: 10 May 07 - 06:28 AM The first German comment I have read said that the best compliment paid to his politics is that Cameron does not plan to change much after taking over the office. Iraq was by far his worst mistake. Wolfgang |
Subject: RE: BS: Goodbye Tony B.lair From: Doktor Doktor Date: 10 May 07 - 06:48 AM Mr Higginbottom pointed out years ago the "Tony Blair MP" is an anagram of "I'm Tory Plan B" |
Subject: RE: BS: Goodbye Tony B.lair From: Hawker Date: 10 May 07 - 07:55 AM LOL Doktor Doktor! I thought he had given me a nice birthday present by resigning, but then I saw who was waiting in the wings! Politics.........Its a job I wouldn't and couldn't do - whatever else they are, they are braver souls than me! Cheers, Lucy |
Subject: RE: BS: Goodbye Tony B.lair From: katlaughing Date: 10 May 07 - 09:31 AM Didn't he do some good at the very beginning in the whole royal response to Diana being killed? (I ask in ignorance from across the pond having just watched "The Queen." with Helen Mirren.) |
Subject: RE: BS: Goodbye Tony B.lair From: Rapparee Date: 10 May 07 - 09:35 AM But who will W have to talk to now? |
Subject: RE: BS: Goodbye Tony B.lair From: Jean(eanjay) Date: 10 May 07 - 10:18 AM Ian Paisley and Martin McGuinness have both praised him. History will criticise (amongst other things) his handling of terrorism and immigration. I will remember him as being unable to complete a sentence without pausing after every couple of words and for being too soft with David Blunkett and John Prescott. I am pleased that he has finally resigned. |
Subject: RE: BS: Goodbye Tony B.lair From: Jean(eanjay) Date: 10 May 07 - 10:31 AM I am also concerned about what has happened to our NHS (both doctors and dentists) and also our education system whilst he has been in office. |
Subject: RE: BS: Goodbye Tony B.lair From: Mrrzy Date: 10 May 07 - 12:12 PM I heard some good stuff about him from Africa today on BBC - did he do good there, really? |
Subject: RE: BS: Goodbye Tony B.lair From: Little Hawk Date: 10 May 07 - 12:34 PM I have always found the fact that he does not worship penguins quite disturbing. Britain will be better off without him. |
Subject: RE: BS: Goodbye Tony B.lair From: GUEST,Backwoodsman Date: 10 May 07 - 12:49 PM He is no worse, and no better, than any other politician, be it at local or national government level. They are all self-serving tossers. |
Subject: RE: BS: Goodbye Tony B.lair From: Little Hawk Date: 10 May 07 - 12:55 PM Maybe it's the $ySSTem that makes them that way. An idealistic and principled person can slowly be turned into a self-serving "tosser" if he is mired in a competitive system which drives him relentlessly in that direction, and which will not promote him unless he cooperates fully with said $ySStem's unwritten rules and requirements. The price of victory in politics is to sell your soul to the highest bidder. |
Subject: RE: BS: Goodbye Tony B.lair From: guitar Date: 11 May 07 - 04:34 AM There is a song by Eric Bogle called 'a good man' He wrote it about a Politician in Australia and his ilk all around the world. So the songs which he wrote goes like this. A GOOD MAN A good man died today one of this Country's best with no more to give from a life well lived his loyal hearts at rest though the world spins on now he's gone it's a colder poorer place while a useless piece of crap like you is still wasting air and space a good man died today an old soldier said farewell in times of war and in times of peace he served his country well with honour won and duty done held by all in high esteem while a prick like you won't have a clue what honour and duty mean a good man died today we won't see his like again born of an age where a nobler guage judged the worth of man his legacy of intergrity and a fair go for one and all time after time you and your kind piss it against the wall. Whenever I sing this song I'll think of Tony Bliar. good riddince to bad rubbish. |
Subject: RE: BS: Goodbye Tony B.lair From: JennyO Date: 11 May 07 - 06:23 AM But who will W have to talk to now? Oh that's easy - he's still got little johnnie howard in Australia. That little weed hasn't got the good sense to get out, like Blair has. One point for Blair, I suppose. That Eric Bogle song is very good - I don't know for sure which pollie he was writing about in Oz, but there's a good chance it was little johnnie. Of course they are all self-serving tossers. No matter who you vote for, a politician always wins :-( |
Subject: RE: BS: Goodbye Tony B.lair From: bill\sables Date: 11 May 07 - 06:52 AM You shouldn't realy call Blair a liar. He once told the truth. I remember him before the last election on a TV broadcast and he said "If you vote for the tories crime will soar to greater hights, the education and health services would be in chaos, taxes would rise enormously and motorists would have to pay more at the pumps" Well I did vote Tory and it did all happen just as he said. |
Subject: RE: BS: Goodbye Tony B.lair From: Sttaw Legend Date: 11 May 07 - 08:06 AM This should be above the line because he plays guitar |
Subject: RE: BS: Goodbye Tony B.lair From: GUEST,jOhn Date: 11 May 07 - 08:14 AM I never licked him anyway. |
Subject: RE: BS: Goodbye Tony B.lair From: GUEST,Dr No Date: 11 May 07 - 08:26 AM Tony Blair will be remembered as a man without principles. He almost certainly had Dr. Kelly murdered by the secret police. One of the last acts of his reign was to have people jailed for trying to expose his lies over Iraq, which have resulted in many tens of thousands of deaths. We are "not allowed to know" what is in it in Britain- the media are prohibited from revealing the contents, which are supposed to be so sensitive that the trial was mostly held in secret. Unfortunately for British "justice", there is an extensive review of the contents thanks to the New York Times: All about Blair's dirty secrets. British readers, go to the site and read about the memo. A bloke has been jailed for 6 months for revealing something that impinges on national security not one bit, but would make our Tony's cheeks go red. And realise what a police state we are coming to. The judge is a disgrace- Blair is a disgrace. |
Subject: RE: BS: Goodbye Tony B.lair From: Jean(eanjay) Date: 11 May 07 - 08:29 AM He said that he set his expectations too high and that he doesn't regret that - they were actually election promises that he didn't fulfil. |
Subject: RE: BS: Goodbye Tony B.lair From: Stu Date: 11 May 07 - 08:54 AM At least Bush will be able to sit down now for the first time in years, without Tony suckered like some poodley lamprey to his arse. And we've got Gordon to look forward to. Apparently he's going to drop the word 'new' from New Labour - don't tell me there might be a move to left in the worker's party? |
Subject: RE: BS: Goodbye Tony B.lair From: Sttaw Legend Date: 11 May 07 - 10:19 AM Its maybe time for some of you to give the job a try? |
Subject: RE: BS: Goodbye Tony B.lair From: GUEST,jOhn Date: 12 May 07 - 06:20 AM How much is the wages? |
Subject: RE: BS: Goodbye Tony B.lair From: Jean(eanjay) Date: 12 May 07 - 07:43 AM The wages are good - but they improve when you leave; just see what Tony Blair is able to earn in a few months time. |

Subject: RE: BS: Goodbye Tony B.lair From: Jean(eanjay) Date: 12 May 07 - 07:18 PM Labour's poll rating has risen since the announcement but it will fall again if Gordon Brown becomes leader. |
Subject: RE: BS: Goodbye Tony B.lair From: guitar Date: 13 May 07 - 04:22 PM What about John Howard, I hope he goes, I thought at first he would all right for Australia, but not now. |
Subject: RE: BS: Goodbye Tony B.lair From: Tootler Date: 13 May 07 - 06:44 PM He has some positive achievements to his name. However, He lacked political courage and seemed scared stiff to do anything the Daily Rant and their ilk disapproved off. He has let his government become mired in sleaze. He has systematically been undermining our freedoms. He has hung on too long. Having announced he was not going to fight another general as PM he should have gone soon after the last one. By hanging on till now has resulted effectively in government paralysis for two years. On the other hand it looks like he is about to be replaced by Gordon Brown, the man who stole our pensions. |
