Seen no reviews/opinions of this.
Did the artists and organisers have a singaround then?

I went. The hot dogs were amongst the best, well cooked and plenty of onions. I also had a bacon and egg bap, which was quite pleasant. The mustard on the hot dog was oustanding - there was a choice of Dijon and Garlic Mustard.

Definitely one for the diaries for next year.

I was there all day Saturday and had a most enjoyable time. All the artists gave an excellent account of themselves with special mention for Bob Fox & Billy Mitchell and Keith Kendrick & Sylvia Needham. The three hour break between concerts with nothing going on was a bit of drag being on my own(Billy no mates me)but it did offer the opportunity to explore this most captivating of locations.

Enjoyed Omega 3, Tim van Eyken and Flook on Sunday.

My daughter whooping and cheerng at the end of JonJo Kelly's bodhran solo made me smile...

Sadly I couldn't make it to Carsington this year due to illness in the family - even more sad now that I learn that this year's is to be the last Festival Of The Peak, basically (as I understand it) due to a distinct lack of interest from the tourist boards, media, local councils, and (importantly) funding bodies. Nobody can have tried harder, or done the job more professionally, than its organisers (Mick and Celia, PR Promotions) have done. FotP was a stupendous event showcasing excellent quality acts in magnificent surroundings, and should by rights have become a permanent fixture on the festival calendar. And yet...

This year it wasn't helped, of course, by there being another directly competing event within broadly the same catchment area that very weekend (the new festival at Gate To Southwell, which had a pretty enticing lineup too).

Never mind the Derby Evening Telegraph are running a story about Buster the Line Dancing Dog tomorrow night.

The voice of the people will triumph!

Trust you to get the wrong end of the stick Villan!

I merely wondered whether the estimable Big Al had in fact seen Buster the line-dancing dog at Carsington...
if so, that's presumably why the Carsington event was named Festival Of The Peke ?
Not 'arf!

I was there briefly. I did a short set in the courtyard, but I wasn't feelng great, so I didn't stay long. While I was there I saw Kris Spencer, Terry Wood, Penny Bun, No Fixed Abode, Mary de Ville, Amy Notman, two members of the festival choir singing acapella, an excellent young celtic harpist from Belper (whose name escapes me) and probably someone else!

I had had a late night at the Ken Nicol concert the night before, and my heart is still abit wobbly from the op. I would have made an attempt to go to both festivals, - but you DON'T get much chance to see Ken. An awful lot of guitarists and songwriters packing out The Kiln at Swadlincote that Saturday to see Ken strut his stuff. That must have been a few bums on seats lost for Southwell and Carsington.

I did hear that Mick lost some money on Carsington - commiserations! Everyone who's promoted anything will feel for him. Its a most beautiful place for a folk festival, an inspired choice of venue. I'm not sure why he should have lost - the tent looked pretty full for the Roaring Jelly concert, and they sounded pretty damn good.

There is talk about Mary De Ville putting on some more sessions in the courtyard - so for the folkies it won't be a complete loss. I feel sure it will make a great afternoon out, if Mary manages to put that one together.

I ran the sessions in the courtyard both afternoons and had a great time listening to the extremely high standard of performance.   I'd like to thank eveeryone who took part.
Apparently, a number of people have spoken to the Severn Trent management with positive comments who then came back to me expressing interest in doing something similar on a monthly basis throughout the summer. I have agreed in principle and am now waiting on their next move.
I'm so sorry there's a possibility that there won't be a Festival of the Peak next year as Mick has done such a great job over the years and it has become an annual institution
