Having seen Skipys Free to good home thread I thought it might be a nice idea to have a thread such as this where folk can say what they want LPs or CDs Singles.....and perhaps receive them by post from someone who has one they don't want.
None that I need at present but perhaps others have.

I wish I had a CD copy of a number of LPs I have. I lack the technology to convert the vinyls, and it will be a long time before I can afford it, but it's my understanding of copyright law that as long as I have already bought it in vinyl, it's OK to get a free copy for my own use as long as I am not setting up to distribute. I'm sure I must have something I could offer in trade, but I am not sure what.

If anybody has the LP recorded by Richard Farina and Eric Von Schmidt in the UK in 1963 and either doesn't want it anymore or would like to have it transcribed to CD, I'm willing.

I have just discovered that the Dick Farina, Eric Von Schmidt and Blind Boy Grunt album I had been looking for has been recorded to CD and is available at CD Baby or at the producer's site here. There is also some interesting background information about the making and marketing of the album at the site,

I like this, an ask and ye shall receive thread. Reminds me of a radio show that used air in a small town in northern Wisconsin called, Help Your Neighbor. I wonder if that show is still happening. It's been over thirty years ago but I remember asking for something and having someone call me up to offer me what I desired.

If there's anything that anyone wants to part with in the pre 1960s Blues or Rhythm & Blues realm, whether it's reissued on CD, Lp, 45, or even 78s, I'll be happy to give them a home. :o)

As far as specific artists, I'd like to find any early James Copp III, a piano playing storyteller from the early 1950s, in any form. His late 50s and early 60s children's records that he recorded as Jim Copp are available on Lp and CD but I like what I've heard prior to that time. I don't know whether it's even available.

Bert Williams is another favorite but most of the 78s that I have of his are too scratchy to make out.

I have the technology, courtesy of my son, and have now transcribed most of my LP collection, so I can listen to them again, particularly in the car. If anyone is within reasonable reach of Leeds, West Yorkshire, it may be possible to do something with yours.

Top of my Most Wanted list?

Would dearly love to get hold of a copy of the late Bob Arnold's album "Mornin' All", which doesn't seem to be commercially available. Bob was, for many years, Tom Forrest in the BBC Radio serial "The Archers", and he is accompanied on this record by The Yetties.

I believe this LP fetches huge sums of money from collectors these days. Not being a vinyl collector, but some one who just enjoys the music, I find it hard to justify the prices asked. Notwithstanding copyright issues, any one prepared to offer me a tape, CD, mp3, whatever to replace my own worn out copy and my mangled cassette?

(Apologies in advance if, unbeknown to me, this is available commercially at a sensible price, in which case please disregard my request for a "copy" and point me in the direction of the real thing!!!)

I once had a copy of Trevor Lucas's album "The Overlander, but lent it to someone and never got it back ( and I couldn't remember to whom I lent it!). Anyway, it's quite collectable now, and I'd love to hear it again.

If you have vinyls and just can't find a good home for them, Night Owl, a longtime member of the Mudcat, is still replacing all of the folks albums she lost to a lightening-started fire which completely destroyed her home. You could PM me for more details. Not sure what we could offer in exchanges except that I can still make copies of the old 78's which I posted about in THIS THREAD.

I have about twenty 45s from the '60s as well as a few children's tiny, colourful children's 78s from the late '50s, esp Merrie Melodies stuff if anyone is interested.:-)

I would love to get a copy of a Donovan LP I had whom someone "borrowed" and never returned. Unfortunately I cannot remember the name of it. A few years ago, I tried looking for the album cover art and didn't see that one. It sticks in my mind it had something to do with "sunshine superman" and I know it had the song about the widow on the shore and what I think of as his "Chaffinch" song. (I go look up the name of it.) This is a great thread!

Jody Stecher and Krishna Bhatts seminal Country and Eastern LP "Rasa" late 70's?? {even better if it made it to CD!)

My poor old vinyl is virtually unplayable now (sounds like a 78!)

Also, following on from Oliver Schroers sad departure, I'm intrigued to get hold of "Cimino", and "Hymns and Hers". Bit cheeky I know, as they are still available State side, but, not over here in the UK, unless someone knows different.

Aah think the LP you might be lookin' for is 'Donovan - Live'

He sings at the Anaheim Concert Hall.

The show is introduced by a guy who tells a story about Donovan stopping the rain at a previous concert then Don's dad introduces the lad himself.

He opens with a song about 'Islay' and he does 'First There Is A Mountain' but no 'Sunshine Superman' on it.

There is a humorous song called 'Rules and Regulations' about people not knowing if long haired teenagers are ' a boy or a girl - It takes all kinds to make a world'

'Widow With Shawl' is on there and there is also a song with the words 'chiff chaff eggs are painted by mother bird eating berries' - Might that be your 'chaffinch'?

If you want anymore info I'll have to dig it out from under the bed.

The cover was a painting by a lady called Fleur Cole (I think) and the back cover shows Don playing a whistle with a small 'djembi' type drum under his arm - He has drawn cliffs and sea around his photo and a cobweb & spider between his elbow and the drum (God! How sad am I to know all this without the cover in front of me?)

'Tidewave' by Barry Dransfield

This is a 1980 Topic album by ROBIN (not Barry) Dransfield.
It has recently been re-released on a 2-CD set as A Lighter Touch (with, as far as I know, Topic's permission), together with a 1972 live concert recording which includes some tracks from the first two Trailers (which gets round that difficulty).

G-P, thanks, that's the one I bought a few years after the one I am looking for went missing. I LOVE the Live one, as well, but I was disappointed, at the time, that it wasn't THE one I'd lent/leant? out.

With what Geoff posted (thanks!)I went looking again and found one called "Atlantis" which I am fairly certain is the right one! Seeing "Jennifer Juniper" as the first track seems *right*. After all of these years! I think I got the songs mixed up as I don't see a couple of the ones I was asking after on this one, but it does have Sunshine Superman and a couple of others which were equally important to me.(Hope that makes sense!)

I've been looking for some Len Chandler stuff for a week or so. And i don't find anything. Well there is some albums on ebay but my paypal account seems to be f****d up.

What I really want is his first album on mp3 but i'm willing to buy the vinyl or do wathever it takes to hear his music. Strange though that the vinyl isn't very rare but there is no digitalised(mp3) albums by him.
