Heard in the early 70s at Mike Henry's club in Oxford: can anyone recall the words to a parody on Whisky in the Jar beginning
As I was going over Kilgarry Mountain
I met with De Valera and our money he was counting.

I've never heard of this, but I'm seconding the request, because that first line shows infinite promise.

Keep looking; a thread may need to be 'up' a while before the person you are looking for sees it!

Sounds great - the only parody I know (well, know of) is Tequila in the Jar, where it's Mexican/Californian instead of Irish (we'll drive around a-cruising and pretend that we are machos / pick up pretty women, take them home and feed them nachos)

Never came across this one, there was a Man Utd version way back where 'I met with Frank O'Farrell and his money he was counting', not a long lived version, as managers go, he went.

It should, of course, be 'Whiskey in the Jar'!

Why should it be Whiskey?
Whiskey = Scotch Whisky = Irish
Though speaking as a teetotaller, I'm not that bothered.
