It is chucking it down here in Lincolnshire so I suppose that's it for the rest of the "summer".

Grey but bright here. There was a red sky over north west London last night, so maybe it'll brighten up later.

Of course, it could just have been a barbeque that got out of hand....

I don't understand it - It's not rained here for 48 hours and Sutton East Surrey Water still haven't declared a hosepipe ban.

Walrus.

It was lovely and bright until about 2.45pm when it turned dark and muggy - walking across the car park at Tescos was weird - one side of it was hot like an oven and the other was decidedly cooler... by the time we got through Woolworths it was just starting to hurl down. That was at 3.00. It's now 4.00pm and the skies are blue and bright again!

Is this the pattern for the next 40 days?!

It's also my Dad's 90th birthday today so we're blaming him for the weather too. I can confirm though that copious quantities of wine and cake do have the effect of making you forget all about the rain!

Now, where did I put those 90 candles????

Lifted from elsewhere...

There is a weather-rhyme is well known throughout the British Isles since Elizabethan times.

'St Swithin's Day, if it does rain
Full forty days, it will remain
St Swithin's Day, if it be fair
For forty days, t'will rain no more.'

St. Swithin (or more properly, Swithun) was a Saxon Bishop of Winchester and legend says that as he lay on his deathbed, he asked to be buried out of doors, where he would be trodden on and rained on. For nine years, his wishes were followed, but then, the monks of Winchester attempted to remove his remains to a splendid shrine inside the cathedral on 15 July 971. According to legend there was a heavy rain storm either during the ceremony or on its anniversary.

It's still bouncing.
Quack!
GtD.

GS - I hope you were not referring to my father's habit of farting long and loud. I can assure you, they really would blow the clouds away!

A sigh is an expression,
That comes from the heart.
But if it's expressed downwards,
erm........................anyone add a lst line please?

If ever I am in England on this day, I would hope to be at Winchester Cathedral for the Thanksgiving.

Hi Kat,

Winchester is another lovely cathedral to sing in - I used to live about 15 miles from Winchester and sang with choral societies there too!.

This evening I've purchased a diving mask and snorkel...... They will come in very handy here in the flat wetlands of Lincolnshire.

It was hot and dusty on the 15th, as I expect it to be here in Texas until mid-October.
