I need the Irish translation for the following

" There is Irish around here".

The Irish is the language and not the race.

I have it translated by a friend but he is not fluent and i want to be sure.

His translation is

"Ta an Gaelige timpeall anseo"

Jimmy, your friend's translation is OK. I would have said,

"Tá Gaeilge anseo"

I went to IrishGaelicTranslator.com and got these possibities as well:

Labhraítear Gaeilge anseo

Tá go leor Gaeilge anseo

That last one is pretty good. But all three will do the trick.

My daughter found a china cup with the inscription "I Scuimne na bFíníní" 1858- 1958. I imagine it's Irish, can anyone help with the translation please.

Guest: David Skyes. It more that likely translates as "In Memory of the Fenians" 1858-1958. The revolutionary group was launched by James Stephens on St Patick's Day 1858 in Dublin and it was named after the warriors of ancient Ireland.

That S in the second word is probably a G, in fact?

...I suspect you're right MartinR.
The old script "G" might look like a cap "S" if one is unfamiliar with it.
