Subject: Need words and music for two songs From: lefthanded guitar Date: 13 Aug 07 - 07:31 PM I have been googling and yahooing, but can't seem to find the lyrics and chords for two songs I've been wanting to sing again. Many A Mile, written I believe by Pat Sky but performed by Buffy Sainte Marie. The Dream Tree- a little known but lovely and haunting Buffy song from an early album. (I got in a real Buffy mood after seeing her perform this summer, she and her music is more vibrant and meaningful than ever) Thanx in advance for anyone who can help me with this. |

Subject: RE: Need words and music for two songs From: SouthernCelt Date: 13 Aug 07 - 07:45 PM From reading through the Many a Mile... lyrics and having heard Pat Sky sing it many times, the lyrics look totally correct, so Buffy's version (which I've not heard) must not have deviated from Pat Sky's. I've never seen chording, tab or staff note music for this one but it's not too complicated if you can learn to play it by ear, get Pat Sky's first album on CD and learn it from there. SC |

Subject: RE: Need words and music for 2 songs-Dream Tree(Buffy) From: lefthanded guitar Date: 15 Aug 07 - 03:38 PM Thanks kind folks. These songs have such staying power; I printed out the Many A Mile chords and lyrics and will be singing it at the next song round robin session. Hey Kat thanks for the site with Dream Tree-I can't load the song on my comuputer b/c I have dial up, but will try on a friend's when I get a chance. Am looking forward to hearing it again. (btw kat, you are always such a help, that looks like a great website; all her old albums were on it!) Great for me, since so many of my old gems were ruined in a basement flood a couple of years ago. |
Subject: RE: Lyr/Tune Req: The Dream Tree (Buffy Sainte-Marie) From: Jim Dixon Date: 05 Sep 07 - 11:47 PM THE DREAM TREE is on Buffy Sainte-Marie's 1969 album "Illuminations." I found a sound sample at Allmusic.com and transcribed this much: Lo, how the dream tree is sighing and shaking. Pretty dreams fall down on me. Lo, how my poor heart is crying and aching, Longing for one who is longing for me. |
Subject: Lyr Add: THE DREAM TREE (Buffy Sainte-Marie) From: macaddict01 Date: 28 Sep 09 - 04:36 PM The Dream Tree © Buffy Sainte-Marie Lo how the dream tree is sighing and shaking Pretty dreams fall down on thee Oh how my poor heart is crying and aching Longing for one who is longing for me. I'll sit at home with a light in the window back to the fire and eyes to, the sea I'll sit at home with my hand on the cradle Rocking the love he has given to me. Long are the hours and long is the waiting Many the candle to stand and be burned Women of whalers and women of sailors soon learn the meaning of worry and yearn. Women sing their songs of safe returning for their men Let him only, one day, some day Touch my hair again. Lo how the dream tree is sighing and shaking Pretty dreams fall down on thee Oh how my poor heart is crying and aching Longing for one who is longing for me.
