Subject: RE: Jackie Oates, Alasdair Roberts in London From: GUEST,Chris Murray Date: 04 Sep 07 - 03:36 PM On another thread people were asking about the 'Wistman's Wood' CD. It's very good. I got it from the smelly merchandise tent at Sidmouth. I didn't know it hadn't been released yet. Presumably you can get it at gigs? |
Subject: RE: Jackie Oates, Alasdair Roberts in London From: Ruth Archer Date: 04 Sep 07 - 03:52 PM I thought it HAD been released. Isn't it Jackie's next solo CD that people were talking about? |
Subject: RE: Jackie Oates, Alasdair Roberts in London From: Richard Bridge Date: 04 Sep 07 - 03:59 PM Smelly merchandise? That's novel. |
Subject: RE: Jackie Oates, Alasdair Roberts in London From: Ruth Archer Date: 04 Sep 07 - 04:12 PM It was mostly cheeses. And socks. I'm surprised Chris managed to find a CD amongst all the cheeses and socks. |
Subject: RE: Jackie Oates, Alasdair Roberts in London From: countrylife Date: 04 Sep 07 - 05:26 PM "Isn't it Jackie's next solo CD that people were talking about?" apparently the new 'Wistman's Wood' CD seems to being classed as a Jackie Oates "solo" album, least it was in a now closed thread...lord knows why.... Now Be Thankful |
Subject: RE: Jackie Oates, Alasdair Roberts in London From: GUEST,Jackie O Date: 05 Sep 07 - 06:23 AM Thank you all for your interest and comments. I'm having a great time working on the new album, all v exciting. My dear friend (+ housemate) Jim Causley also has a new solo cd coming out later this month so look out for that one too! You can get hold of Wistman's Wood cd's from me via my website www.jackieoates.com thanks again Jackie x |
Subject: RE: Jackie Oates, Alasdair Roberts in London From: The Borchester Echo Date: 05 Sep 07 - 06:45 AM Extract from what I said on the previous thread: There is, in the meantime, [i.e. in the intervening period before her 2nd solo album is released] the seven-track Wistman's Wood EP that she recorded with Steve Turner and Andy Clarke. This is because, fabulously talented though she is, Jackie is unable to play viola, accordian and guitar simultaneously and thus create a solo album. It is not a solo album because Wistman's Wood is a trio. I've had the CD since last April and believe everybody should have one. |
Subject: RE: Jackie Oates, Alasdair Roberts in London From: GUEST,Chris Murray Date: 05 Sep 07 - 10:41 AM I did understand that, Diane. I've got Jackie's solo album and 'Wistman's Wood' and I can tell the difference. My point was that I got WW at Sidmouth so therefore people who can't wait for the new JO CD should be able to get hold of it. |
Subject: RE: Jackie Oates, Alasdair Roberts in London From: The Borchester Echo Date: 05 Sep 07 - 11:58 AM Wasn't talking to you Chris 'chairs' Murray but to somebody called 'countrylife/nowbethankful' (a somewhat scary combination) who had somehow got the idea from somewhere that Wistman's Wood was . . . a . . . solo . . . rapidy losing the will to live . . . A chronological discography (not guaranteed to be complete but I think it is): Guest musician on Jim Moray's Sweet England (Track 6) 2 tracks on Laurel Swift's Beam A quarter of the Winterset on Cruel Sister Solo CD Jackie Oates One third of Wistman's Wood EP |
Subject: RE: Jackie Oates, Alasdair Roberts in London From: countrylife Date: 05 Sep 07 - 12:15 PM Subject: RE: Jackie Oates new album From: Diane Easby Date: 01 Sep 07 - 02:45 PM Wistman's Wood is the latest Jackie Oates CD. well not exactly, Wistman's Wood is an aggragate of three persons of which Jackie Oates is one |
Subject: RE: Jackie Oates, Alasdair Roberts in London From: countrylife Date: 05 Sep 07 - 12:16 PM and there's nothing wrong with living in the country...at least there wasn't last time I looked..... Now be Thankful |
