This is the first year I have participated. When do we find out who is our target person? Any other details?

Liz will send you a PM giving name & address of your Santee after she has shuffled the participants.

well, there is a (supposed) limit on spending - something like not too much!

Some folks send 1 pressie chosen from the list submitted by their Santee.

Some send lots of tiny things (my first Santa sent me about 8 separately wrapped pressies - oh, that was fun opening the gi-normous box full of pressies & packing material!)

Some send pressies in time, some send pressies late. My first pressie was posted in Nov & took 3 months to get to Oz, worrying me & my Santa immensely.

Some fill the Silly Hints thread 2002 BS: Mystery Santa Goofy Hints with zillions of silly hints, some just write once or twice, some don't even give their worried santee a single hint!

Hints are given by logging off & posting as santee's Secret Santa (don't forget to log off or else everyone knows who you are).

Some also send postcards, enlisting friends/family in strange countries to do so.

Some Santas get another person to post the pressie so Santee doesn't know who their Santa is until they open it, & even then some still don't know.

Some international Santas disguise the pressie contents a bit on the customs declaration - tho not so much that Customs won't allow the declaration. "Present" is probably a bit too vague, but Book, CD, ornament, etc. is ok.

Some buy pressies, others make them

So just follow the rules & have fun!

Joe has promised that Secret Santa posters who log out and then post secretly are not going to be deleted out of hand, so the usual rule about no anonymous postings is bypassed.

Names get drawn at the beginning of October and as Sandra says, I'll send you a PM with the real name and address of your Santee. Then it's all up to you!

We have an entire cottage industry up here selling moose poop earrings, swizzle sticks, cuff links, lip balm (doesn't cure your chapped lips, but always stops you from licking) and other "must have" tourist trinkets. Ain't capitalism a wonderful thing.
