Not sure what the answer is to the opposite of the 'Alpha Male'...the guy who every woman wants to father their baby...what is it makes him attractive to them? By the same token the woman who is his counterpart would have to attract a man in the same way.....ie...she would have to be capable of producing wonderful children and caring for them well.....big breasts = ample food? not sure about that either but could explain the attraction to some degree at least.

While I've known women who've been mightily peeved that blokes seem to just talk to their chests I've also known women to don well fitting red woollen jumpers (the Oz sort, not the US sort) when they want to get a good deal on some transaction with a male they regard as susceptible to such images.

UNBELIEVABLE! How can you people spend so much time on this subject? There is much beauty in a woman, not just her breasts. And of course unless everything is together,personality, intelligence, talent, and then, yes, the physical expression of her inner soul, her body, it means nothing. I have met so many women who were absolutely gorgeous and well endowed, but also brilliant and talented. And most of the morons they would encounter could never lift their eyes from what to them was the main attraction. If you zero in on the physical you miss the spiritual; the real EROS. And that is why so many relationships wind up going south.

A "textbook" that I came across quite a few years with a title something like Varieties of Personality Theory, and as I recall writen by someone named "Hergenhan" or something similar had a rather novel arrangement.

Poor Sigmund had a rather unhappy/unfortunate(?) childhood. His daughter Anna summed him up with "Daddy was a nut," which is perhaps a little unfair, but she worked (capably) to her own theories that didn't compete with what others attributed to her (presumed) daddy; and she seemed to have evaded the possibly geneticly-based psychoses evidenced in the grandson.

I'm intrigued that all this conversation hasn't yet touched on a different aspect of the word. True, I'm quite familiar with the notion that breasts are referred to as "tits" but, when I was growing up on my grandfather's dairy farm, the word "teat" was applied, not to the udder (which is the bovine equivalent to the primate breast), but to what in primate terms is properly the nipple.

Thus giving rise to the term "tit" for any small circular button that you must press to perform some operation.

One theory I have heard: Yanks & Brits are obsessed with tits because they were mostly bottle-fed.

A far more charming theory I have heard: Humans are the only primates that have prominent female breasts.
