Subject: Dylan Night Sun Beverley 11 December From: GUEST,ET Date: 21 Nov 07 - 08:26 AM On Tuesday 11th December 2007 at the Sun Inn Beverley, will be a night dedicated to Bob Dylan. The regular night is excellent so this will be even better, if that is possible. Anyone who is anyone should be there. |
Subject: RE: Dylan Night Sun Beverley 11 December From: The DeanMeister Date: 21 Nov 07 - 10:17 AM Why would it be better? Never saw the attraction myself! Does that mean anyone can turn up and sing atrociously? ;O) |
Subject: RE: Dylan Night Sun Beverley 11 December From: Les from Hull Date: 21 Nov 07 - 12:51 PM Only if they've written about 500 good songs, Pete. (Actually, I like the singing. It's the harmonica 'playing' that I can't stand.) |
Subject: RE: Dylan Night Sun Beverley 11 December From: GUEST Date: 21 Nov 07 - 12:57 PM I have to assume the Sun Inn is nowhere near Brooklyn. Right? (sigh) |
Subject: RE: Dylan Night Sun Beverley 11 December From: oombanjo Date: 21 Nov 07 - 02:29 PM Beverley in the East Riding of Yorkshire England ( is that a Bigger sigh) (did he record "atrociously" under a different title Pete ??) |

Subject: RE: Dylan Night Sun Beverley 11 December From: GUEST,the one Date: 22 Nov 07 - 06:56 AM we should make it a annual event ! we will miss him when he is no more... maybe not, he will become bigger in death than he was in life. |
Subject: RE: Dylan Night Sun Beverley 11 December From: Les from Hull Date: 22 Nov 07 - 09:41 AM Did you know that Bob Dylan shares a birthday with Chris Mullins? he he |
Subject: RE: Dylan Night Sun Beverley 11 December From: Sir Roger de Beverley Date: 22 Nov 07 - 11:36 AM Is there going to be sign-up list for songs so that we don't get 93 versions of desolation row or whatever. |
Subject: RE: Dylan Night Sun Beverley 11 December From: Sir Roger de Beverley Date: 22 Nov 07 - 11:38 AM Or, again, maybe we should all sing the same Dylan song and see what variants there are. After all there was a whole album of versions of "Tom's diner" (Suzanne Vega not Dylan) R |
Subject: RE: Dylan Night Sun Beverley 11 December From: The DeanMeister Date: 23 Nov 07 - 08:12 AM I can see Chris Mullins singing Hurricane. |

Subject: RE: Dylan Night Sun Beverley 11 December From: Les in Chorlton Date: 23 Nov 07 - 08:33 AM I thought I might just add that: Chorlton Folk Club Southwest Manchester Cricket Club Ellesmere Road Chorlton Manchester By chance, has a Dylan Night on Thursday 29 November. Fraternal greetings to The Sun in Beverley! |
Subject: RE: Dylan Night Sun Beverley 11 December From: GUEST,ET Date: 23 Nov 07 - 09:01 AM Interesting how much interest there is in Dylan. He was my childhood hero and if I ever came to sing in public (unlikely) its his songs i'd sing. His voice maybe not that good (my better half thinks he sings like a constipated cat) but since my singing is worse I don't mind his voice. On a sentimental note I remember going to Retford (Notts) folk club in the 60's. The folk club was above a motor bike garage and one night they had a Dylan night, which co-existed with an intense tuning and revving up of high powered bikes below - an interesting combination - desolation row in real life. |
Subject: RE: Dylan Night Sun Beverley 11 December From: Les in Chorlton Date: 24 Nov 07 - 04:30 AM I suppose if you had the time to listen to everything he recorded he will have written a song that is effectively about each one of us? |
Subject: RE: Dylan Night Sun Beverley 11 December From: Carol Date: 25 Nov 07 - 11:42 AM He seems to have recorded like a Rolling Stone many times but I was surprised to see he's recorded Hard Times by Stephen Foster! |
Subject: RE: Dylan Night Sun Beverley 11 December From: Les in Chorlton Date: 25 Nov 07 - 11:52 AM It has been claimed that whilst touring on the 60s, as well as picking up folk songs he also picked up some Morris tunes. The "faithful" have been listening to his records to "spot the Morris". Any ideas? |
