Happy Thanksgiving to everyone who plans to celibrate Thanksgiving.

So - how long is your gratitude list? As I like to say - I'll never have everything I want but I already have everything I need. A cure for autism would be nice next year but other than that - I've got my health, family, a job, a roof over my head and good friends to play music with. So life is pretty darn good. And I glad I know that. I can see now that the things that you can count - don't count. How about you?

Same to you, Wesley. Thanks. You've got it about right..I have what I need, not all that I may want, but life is good. My grateFULL list is endless and carries on, daily, and it has nothing to do with Pilgrims and Native Americans!**bg**

I am reminded of a kiosk message outside a local church: Who does not thank for little will not thank for much.

I give thanks.

A Thanksgiving Poem

'Twas the night of Thanksgiving,

But I just couldn't sleep

I tried counting backwards,

I tried counting sheep.

The leftovers beckoned -

The dark meat and white

But I fought the temptation

with all of my might.

Tossing and turning

With anticipation

The thought of a snack

became infatuation.

So, I raced to the kitchen.

Flung open the door

And gazed at the fridge,

Full of goodies galore.

I gobbled up turkey

and buttered potatoes,

Pickles and carrots,

Beans and tomatoes.

I felt myself swelling

So plump and so round,

'Till all of a sudden,

I rose off the ground.

I crashed through the ceiling,

Floating into the sky

With a mouthful of pudding

And a handful of pie.

But I managed to yell

As I soared past the trees...

Happy eating to all --

Pass the cranberries, please.

May your stuffing be tasty,

May your turkey be plump.

May your potatoes and gravy

Have nary a lump.

May your yams be delicious

May your pies take the prize,

May your Thanksgiving dinner

Stay off of your thighs.

May your Thanksgiving be blessed!

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone! All of us are members of different circles of friends, different 'families'. For me, the holiday's about good friends (I'll miss you this year, Mary) and feeling safe and warm1. Sometimes that means a physical structure, but I think the social structure is far more important.   Also, pigging out on turkey and the trimmings. That may be more important than... nah - doesn't taste as good without friends2.

1Above freezing. I just got my first oil bill.
2I'm not just saying that because they (Hi Tom) cook the turkey, either.

Happy Thanksgiving USers. Happy Thursday to all else or whatever the heck day it is in Oz.
I'm thankful for my beautiful wife and our family and our relative good health. I'm thankful for good friends and good times and music, the soundtrack of our lives. I'm thankful that roast turkey has no carbs and for sugar-free pumpkin cheesecake with an almond meal crust. I'm thankful for film, literature and art. And music. Yeah, I already said that but its worth saying again. And I am thankful for Mudcat and all of you who make it so informative, lively, provocative and downright fun.
All the best for the Holidays and throughout the New Year.

We've just cancelled Thanksgiving at our house 'cos everyone is sick.

Maybe we'll be better by the weekend and can feast then.
It's not Thanksgiving that I'll miss so much - it's the Bubble and Squeak on Friday!!!
