Subject: RE: Beverley Beck Shanty Festival May 2008 From: Rasener Date: 08 Apr 08 - 12:07 PM What about a Yorkshire versus Lincolnshire Shanty Competition. That might just tempt us lot to come over the bridge to support our yellowbellies. |
Subject: RE: Beverley Beck Shanty Festival May 2008 From: Rasener Date: 08 Apr 08 - 12:50 PM oops - just realised that the Cleethorpes Folk Festival is on at the same time. So it might just be a Lincolnshire versus Yorkshire :-) I'll get me boat. |
Subject: RE: Beverley Beck Shanty Festival May 2008 From: Linda Kelly Date: 08 Apr 08 - 04:36 PM John is aware of the festival but may be unavalable due to the Cleethorpes commitment and the same for Robin Garside. |

That would be very useful, as there are a number of performers I would like to see. If I brought the family along (who would not be interested in the music), is there something they could do,in the Beverly Beck area (like shopping etc). |

Subject: RE: Beverley Beck Shanty Festival May 2008 From: Rasener Date: 09 Apr 08 - 01:44 PM I know Beverly nutty. Its about 1 mile and a quarter from the Beck, which is OK. However, the time of day will be important. I want to see The Boat Band, Jim Eldon and my freinds Hissyfit & Dave & Julie Evardson. I don't think my family will want to go to the Market in the Evening :-) |

Subject: RE: Beverley Beck Shanty Festival May 2008 From: Graham and Jo Date: 09 Apr 08 - 06:08 PM You can walk down to the lock and the river Hull and walk over Figham Marshes. Some times of day there can be interesting things. Have seen rabits, geese, swans, bats, foxes, deer, barnowls, kingfishers, herons, grebe, cormorants, sparrow hawk, a harrier, and one time pretty sure two cranes flew over. There is fishing: pike and tench as well as the smaller fish in both the Beck and the river. Also, the leisure centre has a swimming pool. |
Subject: RE: Beverley Beck Shanty Festival May 2008 From: Les from Hull Date: 10 Apr 08 - 10:24 AM Villan - or you could drop the family in Hull for an afternoon to shop or visit our excellent museums (free), or the Deep (not). jOhn refers to it as a big fish tank and he's not (often) wrong. |
