Here is a chance to list 3 members of the cat that you would like to meet or have been able to meet & why.
For me they are (& in the best tradition of TV shows , not in a particular order)
Scrump, rest his soul, because I loved his wit & his humour.
Megan L because she SOO misunderstands me.
Dave polshaw because I truly believe that we have so much in common!
& we could disagree on other things without a problem!

I have a list of 15 or 20...even after meeting 150 or so thru the Getaway and a couple of special trips. And I KNOW that there's many more I'd enjoy meeting.

This is a lot like "Your favorite song...or food..." lists. Except you can't insult a food by leaving it out.

I've had the pleasure of meeting several 'Catters and one has even bought a place nearby!

I'd say that I would like to meet Shane...but the truth is I have already met far too many people similar to Shane in this lifetime. They're everywhere. If you want to attract them, just put up some signs around the area with arrows and underneath the arrow: "Free Beer!" They will come straight to you. And in a remarkably short time too. They will be, like, majerly pissed when they find out that you don't, like, have any free beer for them, eh? That's when the real fun will begin.

Now that I think about it I've met more than three Mudcatters. I've actually met four. Maybe I'll meet some more. Maybe some have seen me and decided not to introduce themselves. Whenever I go somewhere, even to the bathroom, I wear a hat that says

"I AM RAPAIRE!! ARE YOU ON MUDCAT TOO?"

that sticks way up above my head and the letters flash on and off. And to help others find me I always dress as a banjo with a catfish coming out of it.

And yet, nobody introduces themself....

Coincidentally, three is the number of Mudcatters I've met in real life ~ no more, no less. (There are several others with whom I've communicated about planned trips to my hometown, New Orleans, but for various reasons we never connected.)

It certainly shouldn't hurt anyone's feelings to list the three individuals I happen to have encountered in the 3D world. So, here goes, in chronological order:

Jed Marum, a fine performer and a great guy. I attended his gig at the now-defunct O'Flaherty's Pub in the French Quarter, struck up a conversation, and came to see him on another occasion or two. (That first meeting was during a week-long stay at O'F's, allowing multiple visits, and I think I also caught his act in the same venue on a later trip.)

Ernest (not his real first name) from Berlin, during his vacation trip to N.O. Among other things that occurred during his visit, he took a photo of my wife and I that is Peggy's favorite picture ever of herself.

Tinker, who lent me her guitar for about a month during those dark days right after Katrina. I had left my own instrument on my bed when we evacuated from New Orleans (expecting to return in 2-3-days), and wound up living "in exile" with my mom in New Jersey. When I posted a plea here for a guitar to play, Tinker responded and, since she lives only 15-20 minutes from where I was staying, I gladly took her up on her offer. Picking up and returning her nice little Washburn gave me two opportunities to visit her wonderful big old house and meet most of her wonderful big family, and I learned that she has served for years as a one-women welcoming committee for Mudcatters flying into Newark/New York from across the pond.
