Today is my birthday and so I did a search on the Internet for anything of interest on the day I was born.

I find it disappointing that the only item of importance was UN Resolution 46 - "Considering it is of the utmost urgency to bring about a cessation of acts of violence in Palestine and establish conditions of peace and order in that country."

That was 60 (SIXTY) years ago and we seem no nearer achieving that aim!

Be careful what you wish for...my father's best friend, Marshall Dodge was killed on my 10th birthday and the space shuttle exploded on my 14th birthday.

Apparently Julian doesn't have disasters and things on HIS birthday. A UN resolution...quite the gentlemanly thing, I'd say. Happy Birthday.

Peace, that comment about B & C is ... beneath you, altho' I can understand your dislike of them.

Peace, I was born on 11Nov19--, an anniversary of the War to End All Wars. Not only was it a bit of a let down, I believe there is an almost
straight line between that Peace and many of the problems of today.

It's 34 years ago today my 17 yr old brother was killed by a drunk driver.

Disasters do happen, every day of the year. They may not be of world shattering importance, but they shatter someone's world.

This thread reminds me of the great story of the lady who is on her death bed with her husband beside her and she says to him"...darling, when I had a car accident you were beside me, when I was originally diagnosed with a fatal illness, you were there, when my mother died you were there----you know I think you are bad luck.

Interesting - I see that I share my birthday with Boris Yeltsin - also Lisa Marie Presley and Don Everly. And although he has been for some reason omitted from the FamousBirthdays.com site, I happen to know I also share my birthday with Sir Francis Child!

Becca72 - I also had a space shuttle blow up on my birthday - For me it was the Columbia in 2003. I'm, guessing you were referring to the Challenger disaster in your case. Is this like the question, what are the odds that two people in the same classroom witll have the same birthday? i.e. What are the odds that 2 people on the same Mudcat thread will have space shuttle explosions on their birthdays?

My ex's birthday is September 11th.

I share the date with Napoleon and Princess Ann and was born on the same day as India and Pakistan became independent states.

It was also the date of the Omagh bombing.

Talking of odds... our office (until Feb when they moved us all around) had two people sharing a birthday in September and three people sharing a birthday in April. Of those three April birthdays, two have epilepsy.

In an office of 30 people, what are the odds?

I think Oliver Cromwell had a lot of coincidental things happening on Sept 3rd - important victories like Preston and Worcester, also died on that date.
