Sheila Finn asked me to pass the word that Gerry is quite poorly at present. Would you direct any Folk London business to her please.
Let's hope that he recovers soon.

Many heartfelt thanks to everyone for sending their best wishes to Gerry. He's being really well cared for by the doctors and nurses at West Middlesex Hospital at the moment. I've downloaded and printed out all your messages to take with me next time I visit him - they run to 4 pages! He's not quite up to having lots of visitors just yet, but I'll keep you posted on how he's getting on,

Heather Dyer.

As Terry (oops, I mean LeadFingers!) says, he was sitting up yesterday at his bedside table, which was really good to see. He's getting better very gradually, but it's going to be quite a long while yet before he's fully recovered. I know he'd really love to hear from anyone who wants to send him a card at this address:

                        Gerry Milne
                        Osterley One
                        West Middlesex Hospital
                        Isleworth
                        Middlesex
                        TW7 6AF

Thanks again for all the best wishes, we'll keep you posted on how he's getting on, Heather.

From: GUEST,Heather

It looks like Gerry has finally conquered the worst of his medical problems, but it's taken a long time and left him a bit battered mentally as well as physically. It's still going to be a long haul before he's out and about again, and I'm afraid he's not going to be able to get to Sidmouth this year.

What he really needs now to help him pull through is to know that everyone out there needs him and believes in him. So if you could all send him a card saying that, it would really do him good. The address is:

                Gerry Milne
                Osterley One
                West Middlesex Hospital
                Isleworth
                Middlesex
                TW7 6AF

If anyone is near enough to visit him, that would be really good too. Visiting times are 2pm to 8pm every day (but it's probably best to avoid 5:30pm to 6:30pm as that's when dinner arrives).

Many thanks to everyone, Heather.

OK Terry &/or Heather - next time you see Gerry wish him all the best from me and Mary. Gerry is one of my oldest (in the sense of elapsed time) online folk acquaintances, having known him as a name on the cix (who remembers that?) folk conference, long before most of us had even heard of the Internet.

I'll try and organise a card too, lack of round tuits allowing...

Talking to Heather today - She thinks that at the moment a card from a friend will mean a lot more than a comment in here , as Gerry does not have access to a 'puter . Obviously , comments here will be there for Gerry when he CAN get access , but we both feel that something on his bedside locker will be better at straightening his thinking out ! The address is STILL :-

                     Gerry Milne

Just to report that Gerry put in an appearance at Vin Garbutt's gig in Twickenham tonight.

He looked well and in good shape....he had his concertina with him too so things must really be looking up. He was a bit too late to cop a floor spot but stayed to the end so he must be on the mend (it was the latest we've finished for many months).

Yes, Vin over-ran by about 20-25 minutes! (No surprise there!)

I'm sorry to see this, though it's an old thread and you say he is improving. If it's the SAME Gerry Milne, (we'd be going back over 30 years) he used to go to a folk club in East London that I used to go to back in the day. Well, until I went back to the Midlands when I retired in October I used to go to a couple of clubs in Romford. Of course not all the people I knew back in the day are around anymore, but it's good to see that there are some youngsters coming along to take over the folk music mantle. Hope he is continuing in reasonable health.
