Subject: Another Willie Song From: GUEST,Lindsay in South Wales Date: 04 Jun 08 - 07:07 PM Earlier tonight I was thinking about one of those Willie songs. This one I first heard sung by Pete North and his brother in the Black's Head at Bletchingdon on our regular Thursday night jam session. I don't remember it all but from the following someone might recognise it..... Then the ring from her finger she instantly drew Saying, "Take this, dearest Willie, and my heart will go too" and a bit of another verse I'm bound for the salt sea We leave on the morning tide And if ever I return again I will make you my bride and a bit of a chorus: Saying, "May I go along with you" x 3 "Oh no, my love, farewell" I'd love to know the complete version. I would also like to know whether the fiddler, a Scotsman called Jim Gordon, is still alive? He live in Rose Hill, in Oxford. |
