I learned this song in junior high school music class. I vaguely recall somebody posted it on another Mudcat thread and mentioning that it was a Blues song. It woulda been too much like right for my teacher to tell us students that that song was Blues. But maybe he didn't know. Teaching the Blues in American public schools in the early to mid 1960s? It never happened and still probably isn't happening today.

But that's a whole 'nuther story.

I can't rememeber the artist's name or any more of the lyrics, but I can clearly hear the tune and the tinkly bell-like intrumental part... From top-40 pop radio, mid-to-late 1960s, is my guess.

There sure are a lot of songs about rain, aren't there? The Irma Thomas recording I mentioned abovce is one of the few, if not the only one, whose title exactly coincides with this thread title, "It's Raining."

I left out the word video in that sentence, and then left off the comment that I was going to add with the asterisk.

The comment was that for some reason, I can't find the "Here Comes McCain Again" on the YouTube site itself. I wonder if the Eurythemics put a halt to the McCain Girls' use of that song and the video, which so obviously is based on that pop group's work. But the McCain Girls' song "It's Raining McCain" is also based on the Weather Girls' song a previously recorded song, and the McCain Girls' video borrows heavily from the Weather Girls' video. So ??

Btw, I understand that the McCain Girls' have also made a McCain political video called "Brainiac" {I presume it's based on the pop song "Maniac". I haven't seen that video yet, and given its' title, I presume it doesn't have anything to do with rain {or McCain}.

So being curious, I decide to click on the Little Willie Foster hyperlink. That led me to http://www.pandora.com/?tc=x-036823-0035-1149&?searchFilter=artist&search=Little+Willie+Foster

This radio station plays music based on your "stated" or re-stated interest. Which is interesting. But my question is how in the world does Google Ads do that anyway? And how did Pandora know that I clicked on a Blues song? Oh, no! Big Brother is definitely watching!

But in spite of being slightly paranoid {"Slightly" Ha!}, I decided to stick around that radio link for a while and see what I could see {change that to "hear what I could hear"}.

Apparently that radio station didn't have any Little Willie Foster, though its ad said it did. Instead, that station played two songs by Sunnyland Slim {sorry I'm having a senior moment and I can't remember the names of those songs though I liked them a lot}. Then the station played Brownie McGhee's "Lover" {to Ease My Worried Mind} followed by "New Jail House Blues" by Sonny Williamson. And then I heard "Go Back To The Country by Bill "Jazz" Gillium [this one was my least favorite so far, but it still wasn't bad, with "bad" here meaning it was alright].

Though that radio station initially didn't give me what I didn't know that I wanted [that Little Willie Foster song], I was still impressed. I had just about decided to sign up with that station when in mid "stream", it cut off the song I was listening to {whose name & artist I can't remember}, and asked me to register for free continual listening. So I took the bait and signed up. Unfortunately, it turns out that this radio station is only for US residents. That works for me, but doesn't work for every Mudcat member and guests. That's a downer.

Sorry all of you non-UnitedStater guys and gals.

Anyway, I'm still listening to the station, but decided to check out that other hyperlink. That link led to a page that advertised cat and dog products, and dog training schools. Since I don't have any cats or dogs, I'm not interested. If you have cats and dogs, I figure you already have those products and since your a Mudcat member or Mudcat visitor, your dog is bound to be exceptional and well behaved. So I'm not going to include that hyperlink.

I guess I should say Thank you, Google for hipping me to that radio station. ["Thank you Google"]

I figure one out of two hyperlinks which led to something I'm interested in ain't bad.

{"Bad" here means it's good]

I'm aware that this post only tangentially has anything to do with rain. But that's not my fault.

This is a oblique way of saying that I woke up this mornin and it's not raining!. "It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood" is also a reference to a long running children's television program that was/is based in my adopted hometown, Pittsburgh, PA. Mr. Roger's Neighborhood is the name of that program.

I've read that Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania has more rainy days per year than any other US city, except, maybe Seattle, Washington. I gather from reading Flash Company's 24 Jun 08 - 10:40 AM post that Glastonbury in the UK also has a lot of rainy days.

I'm curious, where is Glastonbury in relation to London,or some other part of the UK that a geographically challenged American like me would probably have heard of?
