Subject: Dance up the sun From: Andy Jackson Date: 04 Jul 08 - 04:17 AM Just received this from John Thompson of Cloudstreet. Now this really is what it's about. And the extra tingle factor is the realisation of where it is happening. Dance up the Sun (YouTube) Andy & Jillie |

Subject: RE: Dance up the sun From: The Fooles Troupe Date: 04 Jul 08 - 09:28 PM I have hand signed copies of all Cloudstreet's CDs. "Beautiful pictures, lovely singing, but AAaaaghh! It's so painful when the two are out of time with each other!!" Note: The two are always perfectly in sync at their live performances! I think I was forgiven for my previous parody of their work, but sadly I am now working on their "The Fiddle Ship"... |
Subject: RE: Dance up the sun From: Wyrd Sister Date: 05 Jul 08 - 05:20 AM Foolestroupe - I appreciate your point about live performance. It's a bit of a hobbyhorse in our family that when you get dancing or 'folk' music in a TV film the soundtrack and visuals are rarely matched. It messes with the head! (Adaptations of Jane Austen are particular offenders.) |

Subject: RE: Dance up the sun From: Andy Jackson Date: 06 Jul 08 - 06:48 AM Simple fact is that to get the dancers properly in sync with the music they would have had to dance along to the music. I've spent much of my life looking at sound and picture sync, but the end product is what really matters and in this case it wins hands down. There are sufficient sync points throughout to give a sense of togetherness and the slowed down action in places gives a really ethereal feel to the piece. Proper job production I reckon, well done, Andy (ex film Dubbing Mixer) |
