Subject: RE: BS: Thought for the Day- August 26 From: John O'L Date: 26 Aug 08 - 10:19 PM I think it's one of those Dylan-esque lines that seems to mean so much and actualy means very little. As always however, thought-provoking. |

Subject: RE: BS: Thought for the Day- August 26 From: lady penelope Date: 27 Aug 08 - 02:14 PM "I think therefore I am" is the start of a chain of logic. The premise starts with - if I am thinking/cogitating there must be something in existense to do it. It is meerly a starting point, nothing else. As for the orignal post's quote, this just gives me the willies. It harks back to the idea of supreme beings deliberately making inferior beings for obscure reasons.... |

Subject: RE: BS: Thought for the Day- August 26 From: catspaw49 Date: 27 Aug 08 - 09:12 PM "I think therefore I am" has been long used by Equestrian trainers to remind them of certain training methods. Although its memory is short for some things, horses are very intelligent and behaviors once learned become almost a habit overnight. Horses can learn through rigorous training just how far jumps are apart or the post marker distances. This is due to the fact that horses can get an elemental feeling for math. They can learn voice commands in several languages showing solid communication understanding. What is most important overall is to know that horses must learn all of this by repetition as they themselves have no understanding of the philosophy involved in the training. Its wise to remember that you can't put Descartes before the horse. I'll just be leaving....................... Spaw |
