Hey! Back in the 70s we used to sing a song that went something like...

A Chinese boy came knocking on my door, um hmmmm, um hmmmm
A Chinese boy came knocking on my door, --- ---- ---- ---- --- --- ---
Um hmmmm, um hmmmmm, um hmmm, um hmmm.

The dashes are the parts I don't remember! It was stuff like going to get a cake and "he made a mistake and kissed a snake, um hmmm, etc." There were several verses.

Does anyone out there remember this song? I'd love to have the lyrics again!

Is it a cross between "Froggy Went a Courtin'" and "Cinderella, dressed in yellow"?

Or is it closer to "not last night but the night before, twenty four robbers came knocking at my door..went upstairs to get my gun, made a mistake and shot my son"?

I know it was a song because I remember singing it! I wish I could give you the tune on here since I do remember that part. The 24 robbers doesn't sound familiar. Seems like one verse had something to do with going to town and ending up in a gown.

How I wish I'd written the words down long ago. I'd love to teach this song to my kids. We had such fun singing it. I keep hoping that someone will find my request and send me the words.

etc.,   .....

A piece of it at another site-

A Chinese boy came knocking at my door, um hum....
...................
He wanted a piece of cake
He made a mistake and kissed a snake.

Many varitions.
An old song

I remember this song...we sang it in school in the 70's...goes like this....
A chinese man came knocking at my door, knocking at my door, knocking at my door
A chinese man came knocking at my door. My oh-oh my.

I opened the door and he fell on the floor, fell on the floor, fell on the floor.
I opened the door and he fell on the floor. My oh-oh my.

My mother told me to give him a drink, give him a drink, give him a drink.
My mother told me to give him a drink. My oh-oh my.

I gave him a drink and he fell in the sink, fell in the sink, fell in the sink.
I gave him a drink and he fell in the sink. My oh-oh my.

---Then it continues with my mother told me to take him to bed.....

continuing with i took him to bed and he fell on his head...my-oh-oh-my.

My mother told me to take him to church....
I took him to church and he lost his shirt...my-oh-oh-my
....hope this brings back good memories...It does for me :)
