Subject: RE: Tech: Mudcat slow? From: Joe Offer Date: 15 Dec 10 - 04:21 PM It has seemed slow to me over the last few days. Is anybody else noticing unusual slowness, or is it my Internet connection? -Joe- |
Subject: RE: Tech: Mudcat slow? From: Bonnie Shaljean Date: 05 Jan 10 - 06:47 PM That's a relief, I thought it was only me. There was also a "frozen" period yesterday where nothing moved or got added, and people in some of the threads mentioned trying to post and not being able to. But during that time I send a dummy PM as a test, which got through and also made it back on the Reply journey, so that part of the site seems to have been functional. While I'm writing: Whazzup with the Search function? At least for the Forum (haven't tried the DT) I cannot get it to work AT ALL. Whatever I ask for, it just shakes its head at me and says No Results. Even when I look for obvious things that I KNOW are in there. And one thread - not a contentious one as far as I can see, so I can't imagine it got deleted - has completely disappeared from the site altogether. ??? Subject: RE: Tech: Mudcat slow? From: Joe Offer Date: 05 Jan 10 - 06:20 PM Yes, it does seem slow, especially with some functions. I posted a message with a really dumb mistake in it, and I couldn't get the editing function to work and now I have to live with my mistake. (no, I won't say where the mistake is....people think Max gave me an edit button so I could help people, but it really was because I made so many dumb mistakes that needed correction) -Joe- |
Subject: RE: Tech: Mudcat slow? From: katlaughing Date: 05 Jan 10 - 05:51 PM Anyone else having trouble with Mudcat, today? It is really, really slow, times out, etc. I've dumped all of my cookies, cache, history, etc. no virus, etc. No problem on other websites. Wonder what Max is cooking up? |

Subject: RE: Tech: Mudcat slow? From: Janie Date: 18 Sep 09 - 10:54 PM How 'bout them 'eers?" West Virginia, that is. |
Subject: RE: Tech: Mudcat slow? From: Max Date: 18 Sep 09 - 10:30 PM Hmmm, certainly not a fan, but I gotta root for BYU this weekend. Tell you what, if we don't put 200 rushing on Temple, I'll yield. Clearly you ain't backing down. |
Subject: RE: Tech: Mudcat slow? From: artbrooks Date: 18 Sep 09 - 09:53 PM Potent threats indeed - but I root for Utah and anyone who plays BYU. My wife is from Pgh and my daughter has a degree from Pitt, so there is a certain - atmosphere - ya know. I shall crawl back in my hole and allow you your delusions. |
Subject: RE: Tech: Mudcat slow? From: Max Date: 18 Sep 09 - 09:05 PM Art, According to my information, your closest college is the University of New Mexico, and your Lobos happen to be 0-2 with a combined score of 85 to 16. And it's not the running backs that are the problem, its the offensive line. You keep it up, mister, and I'll edit all your posts, replacing whatever folk musician you mention with punk and rap artists. Don't mess with my Nittany Lions. |
Subject: RE: Tech: Mudcat slow? From: Fergie Date: 18 Sep 09 - 08:49 PM Max is the man. Well done Max. For sevices above and beyond the call of duty. Thanks Max Fergus |
Subject: RE: Tech: Mudcat slow? From: Janie Date: 18 Sep 09 - 06:57 PM Thanks, Mr. Max. |
Subject: RE: Tech: Mudcat slow? From: gnu Date: 18 Sep 09 - 06:41 PM Ahhhh... yeah... that is what the little d is specifically for. You get the last 50 posts. Am I missing sommat McG? |
Subject: RE: Tech: Mudcat slow? From: katlaughing Date: 18 Sep 09 - 04:04 PM And the "d" will take you to the most recent posting. Better, Max, thanks! |
Subject: RE: Tech: Mudcat slow? From: McGrath of Harlow Date: 18 Sep 09 - 03:44 PM That isn't what the little d is specifically for. Click either on the number or on the little d, and you get the posts split up into 50s. The difference is that the little d reverses the order on what you get with the slightly larger underlined number. |
Subject: RE: Tech: Mudcat slow? From: Rasener Date: 18 Sep 09 - 03:12 PM Well done Max You shouldn't worry about us. You should take the service off air to suit yourself, not us. After all what would we do, if you didn't sort things out occasionally. Anybody that moans about you taking it down, should have 10 lashes on the backside/butt. |
Subject: RE: Tech: Mudcat slow? From: gnu Date: 18 Sep 09 - 01:18 PM Of course.... that little d is so small that it's hard to tell if you have already clicked it if your eyesight is not what it used to be so you might click it again to see if you clicked it before if your memory is not what it used to be and that takes server time too. I think it would be a good idea to change it, say to "Last 50 posts" or whatever, but that would take time and Max is bogged as it is. Plus, last post by Max explained why it might not be a good idea... I think... my eyesight and my memory are waning. |
Subject: RE: Tech: Mudcat slow? From: gnu Date: 18 Sep 09 - 12:54 PM Just a reminder for newbies, if you click the "d" next to the number of posts, you can download 50 at a time... much faster. |
Subject: RE: Tech: Mudcat slow? From: artbrooks Date: 18 Sep 09 - 12:43 PM Very, very nice. Now, if Penn State only had a couple of running backs that fast... |

Subject: RE: Tech: Mudcat slow? From: Brian Peters Date: 18 Sep 09 - 11:24 AM Yes, that's better. It was getting very tedious waiting to download 200-odd messages' worth of 'What's the Tradition'. Thanks! |
