Subject: RE: BS: Breast Lump. From: catspaw49 Date: 13 Nov 08 - 12:21 PM All my best Scooby........We just lost a popular young newswoman to this, a real activist and a great inspiration. Her station has been doing regular programming about breast cancer to carry on what she started. Heather Pick's motto was always, "Get all the help you need and can find then get on with your life."
Columbus is also the home of Stephanie Spielman whose organization has raised a ton of money for research and help for those in need. We're also home to one of the top research centers in the country, The James Cancer Research Center at Ohio State. |

Subject: RE: BS: Breast Lump. From: frogprince Date: 13 Nov 08 - 02:21 PM The verse Spaw quoted is beautfully put; but it remains that what the goddamned cancer can do, is take away someone you love far too goddamned soon. Prayers from here in Michigan for the best outcome on this, Scooby. Dean |
Subject: RE: BS: Breast Lump. From: katlaughing Date: 13 Nov 08 - 02:37 PM Thanksgivings for a complete and positive outcome for Gemma. I know of one young Mudcatter who has been through a mastectomy and is doing very well, several years later. May it be so for Gemma, sans surgery if possible. Spaw, thank for sharing that. It is good to be reminded of cancer's limitations. My mother had uterine cancer in the early 70s when treatment was limited. She survived, cancer-free, until 1999 when old age caught up to her. |
Subject: RE: BS: Breast Lump. From: Mrs.Duck Date: 13 Nov 08 - 02:40 PM Our thoughts are with her and you Scooby. Sadly in circumstances like this mastectomy may be the only option but if that means she gets to live a full and happy life it may be what she needs. But more importantly she has the support of her family and friends like you. xx |

Subject: RE: BS: Breast Lump. From: Georgiansilver Date: 14 Nov 08 - 05:02 PM A friend of mine went for a scan and tissue check today and it was a cyst... not breast cancer..... so many women automatically think a lump means breast cancer... but there are apparently many things that can cause those lumps. Perhaps it is human nature to worry but worrying never solved anything... whatever happens we have to live with it. I am so pleased for your friend and mine and did some praying that all would be OK for both of them... as far as I am concerned...my prayers were answered. Best wishes, Mike. |

Subject: RE: BS: Breast Lump. From: SINSULL Date: 15 Nov 08 - 09:41 AM Scooby, Thank you for the update. COngratulations to the young lady. My first lump was a fibroid and scared the crap out of me. Now I take them in stride. Annual mammograms, ladies. And if you don't have health insurance, check with your local hospitals. There are many free mammogram programs out there. SINS |
