Here is a site that tracks current news and posts links to various discussions & opinions. It is about the best I have seen for following different debates and news items. It updates automatically, and has settings at the top for you to choose how you want things displayed...etc. A nice change from the many biased places.

But absolutely NOTHING except news that directly concerns the US. The nearest thing to foreign stories it's got are "Bush effigy burned in anti-US protest in Baghdad" and a story about Russia from the NYT (which I can't read as I don't have an account) which seems from the headline to be about their reaction to the US election.

It takes braindead isolationist xenophobia further than even the dumbest American print newspaper I've seen.

You'd do much better using Google's news search.

Well, they say that they "focus primarily on U.S. politics and current affairs". Would you expect the Sussex Cricket Digest to have much about American basketball?

Gee, I read the BBC, AP, CBC, Presse France, NPR, UPI, Al Jazeirra (English) and IHT websites regularly and others as the whim (or news) takes me.

geeze... I never claimed it would be all things to all people!

BBC and CNN and NPR and MANY others are great... this is just a nice way to follow... yes...***USA** political news in particular...

Heck, I'll probably add it. I like to keep up with things, especially as they might affect my life. (I forgot CNN.)

There's nothing on the page Bill D linked to about that "focus", nor did Bill suggest it.

It's a pretty lame excuse for ignoring 90% of the world anyway.

Very true, Jack...you have to look at the "about" section at the top.

I get my news from the "This Hour has 22 Minutes", "The Rick Mercer Report" and "The Daily Show". ;)

They were telling the truth about the Georgian situation, while we were still swallowing the crap being spouted by Obama and Mccain.

Years ago, I was working 'overseas' and had to pickup news via short-wave radio. The internet was in it's infancy then and so too mobile phones....

Anyway, tuned into BBC world service - headline ran something along lines of: "terrorists of the IRA fired a grenade attack at No 10 Downing street, the grenade landed 100 metres AWAY from the prime ministers residence"

Quickly tuned elsewhere to hear the same story, this time from Radio Moscow - headline ran like; Freedom fighters of the IRA launched a grenade attack at No 10 Downing street, the grenade landed 100 metres CLOSE to the prime ministers residence"

Found it a great lesson of when listening to news - to listen to alternative viewpoints. Same story - fantastically different slant on it !

I used to have a shortwave radio when I was stationed in Korea. I'd listen to Radio Moscow, but just for the music. (That's the truth -- the rest was in Russian.)

I used to listen to Radio Moscow when I was living in a tent on a tree planting gig north of Cochrane, Ontario in the mid 80s.
