Subject: BS: I got bladdered today and I am happy From: Rasener Date: 09 Feb 09 - 01:07 PM I am in a happy mood and thought I would post. 3 months ago, I had my yearly bladder check to make sure that cancer had not returned (10 years on). They found something but couldn't get a biopsy as it was too difficult. So they said I had to go back in 3 months to have a further look. I came out of the hospital and was so depressed, which lasted for about 2 months. Anyway, i had to go back today, and was dreading the worst. Uereka, the consultant said that it wasn't cancer and that for good measure, I should go back in 6 months time just to see that all was still OK. The only downside, is that I have to drink mainly water for the next 3 days, to flush the bladder. Good job I am not alcoholic :-) |

Subject: RE: BS: I got bladdered today and I am happy From: Nickhere Date: 09 Feb 09 - 01:50 PM Villian -- they did say 'MAINLY water'. Maybe they meant you could slip the odd pint in there as well? ;-)) (Just for the record, I'm not a doctor!) |

Subject: RE: BS: I got bladdered today and I am happy From: Gurney Date: 09 Feb 09 - 02:59 PM JeffP, PEOPLE are mostly water. And so are rhinoceruses. Doesn't take much to make a difference, does it. 8-) Rhinoceri? |
Subject: RE: BS: I got bladdered today and I am happy From: katlaughing Date: 09 Feb 09 - 03:00 PM My name is Kat and I am a waterholic! 3+ litres, here, too, all water.:-) Congratulations, Les! I am delighted to hear of your good news!! |
Subject: RE: BS: I got bladdered today and I am happy From: Gurney Date: 09 Feb 09 - 03:49 PM What sort of water, Kat? Our cats will go outside in the RAIN to drink from the goldfish pond. They always have tapwater available indoors, too. Makes me wonder. Perhaps I should bottle and sell from the pond. Have to be green bottles, though. Must be a parody in there somewhere. A friend phoned last week to tell me he had bladder cancer. Not a funny subject, at all. Glad for you, Les. |

Subject: RE: BS: I got bladdered today and I am happy From: Rasener Date: 09 Feb 09 - 05:11 PM Thanks everybody for your nice comments. Much appreciated. How much water should you drink in a day? I have heard that you can do yourself a lot of harm if you have too much. Is that true? Les |

Subject: RE: BS: I got bladdered today and I am happy From: Sandra in Sydney Date: 09 Feb 09 - 06:24 PM congratulations, Villan, Water is my drink of choice - some folks boil a kettle when they want a drink, others open a bottle of something fermented, some reach for sugary carbonated stuff - me, I turn on the tap, or reach for the cold water in the fridge, & usually have a slurp of lemon juice in the water. Yum! Snopes on 8 glasses of water medical myth I love the final comment on this article from a letter published by the Los Angeles Times. sandra (water drinker) |
Subject: RE: BS: I got bladdered today and I am happy From: Rasener Date: 09 Feb 09 - 06:40 PM LOL Nice one Sandra I have a fuzzy head, loss of memory, can't see the screen :-) |
Subject: RE: BS: I got bladdered today and I am happy From: katlaughing Date: 09 Feb 09 - 11:33 PM Gurney, tap water which has been through a filter which is attached to the tap of the kitchen sink. I used to buy bottled, but felt too guilty about all of the plastic bottles. I thought I wouldn't be able to stand the taste of the tap water, but with the filter I find myself craving a cool, refreshing glass.:-) When I had congestive heart failure I was on a very strict low water intake and prescription diuretics. Talk about feeling dehydrated! Now, I am fine with a lot of water, but do still have to watch the salt so that I don't retain too much of that water.:-) Also, it is very, very dry here in the high desert. I can feel it in my skin, if I've not had enough water. |

Subject: RE: BS: I got bladdered today and I am happy From: VirginiaTam Date: 10 Feb 09 - 12:33 PM God how horrible that wait must have been. But GREAT NEWS at the end of the wait! May it always stay sweet. Isn't it peculiar, that the body tells us when it is hungry but not when it is thristy until parched. Do you like ice? Would it help to just suck on ice chips. Are you permitted to flavour the water? Too much water may cause problems with tissue salts in some people. If you start having muscle cramps, talk to doctor about replacement. good wishes from Tamara |
Subject: RE: BS: I got bladdered today and I am happy From: Rasener Date: 10 Feb 09 - 12:39 PM Once again thanks to one and all. Aren't mudcatters brilliant :-) Got used to the water now. 2 litres a day and a couple of cups of tea. :-) |
Subject: RE: BS: I got bladdered today and I am happy From: Gurney Date: 10 Feb 09 - 08:44 PM Villan and Kat. My accountant, an older guy, was forcing down more water than he needed, collapsed and was taken to hospital. After a while, and in receipt of a stern lecture, he recovered, apparently fully. I say apparently, because he has other undiagnosed problems now, maybe coincidentally. To answer your question, Villan, is very difficult. It would seem that too much water is as bad as too little. Age, occupation, season, temperature, humidity..... |

Subject: RE: BS: I got bladdered today and I am happy From: Bryn Pugh Date: 13 Feb 09 - 10:09 AM Great news, Villan - stay healthy. I used to work in a dyestuffs factory, and some of the chemicals used caused bladder cancer. It was said that the place had killed as many mean as a major war. These chemicals weren't banned until the later 1960s. Drink a pint and p*ss three ! |
Subject: RE: BS: I got bladdered today and I am happy From: Rasener Date: 13 Feb 09 - 11:45 AM Bryn Funnily enough, my consultant 10 years ago when he diagnosed me with Bladder Cancer at the age of 52, asked me if I worked with chemicals. He said I was extremely young to get it. He put it down to 50 fags a day I smoked, even though I stopped smoking when I was 30 years old. Les |
