Les - checking diaries and event lists, am I right in thinking there will be a session at the Beech on Wednesday 6th May? I'm planning my random jaunt around English sessions, singarounds and clubs in the first week of May - Sunday evening to Friday evening - and then back for a band gig on the Saturday.

If there is a meeting on 6th May, perhaps you could PM me with a suitable pub/B&B in the area.

Ta,

Will

Mind you, I'm probably better at groping than grouping these days... :-)

"we sing one at a time with choruses but tunes are lots of people trying to do the same thing at the same time - a bit like group sex - so I have been told - gets coat and leaves ......................"

No, it's definately better than that Les. It tends to last quite a bit longer as well which is a bonus.......

Please do try and pop in Will, it would be great to see you.

Ged

I have to say to all and sundry (whatever that means) the song sessions are ................. I dont' know what to say really .......... they are full of much joy because Dave, Sue, Bob, John, Phil, Kate, Ged, Ken, John, Alan, John, Anne, Martin, Olga, Norman .............. I know I cannot list everyone but it's because they all come and sing that we are layed-back an harmonious.

we sing one at a time with choruses but tunes are lots of people trying to do the same thing at the same time - a bit like group sex - so I have been told - gets coat and leaves ......................

"The tunes session is a bit less layed-back because we don't really know how to make it more relaxed."

As you said last time, Les, Sir: "The beatings will continue until morale improves".

You will be most welcome Will.

We generally play tunes on the song night as people arrive then when enough have sat down with pints, usually around 8.30, we sing until 9.45 ish. We open the second half with one tune then sing until 11.00.

Bob and John nearly always play some tunes on Northumbrian Smallpipes an others offer tunes, poems or stories. This has worked well since December 2007.

We have had 3 tunes sessions with 12 to 20 people and ended the night the first 2 times with some songs. The tunes session is a bit less layed-back because we don't really know how to make it more relaxed.

Cheers

Les - out of curiosity, are the two sessions mutually exclusive, i.e. no songs at the Tunes one, and no tunes at the Songs one - if you get my drift?

I might be up that way towards the end of April and - having read so much about the Beech on Mudcat - fancy seeing and hearing it in person.

Our Tunes Sessions are generally held on the last Tuesday of the month. So that makes next Tuesday 31 March, our next Beginners Tune Session.

This may be confusing for those of you who knew that we had one last Tuesday - because I cannot be relied on to work out which Tuesday is the last one of the month.

Our Song Session will be on Wednesday 1 April (Honest) which is the next day.

We are also providing songs and tunes at Chorlton's Big Green Festival at St Clements Church, Saturday 4 April off and on from 12 until 4ish.

The Big Green Ceilidh will happen in the Church between 8 and 11 with Midgebites, bar and fun for all.

Cheers

L in C
