Subject: BS: The Masters From: 3refs Date: 10 Apr 09 - 09:11 AM For all you golf fans! Good weather on the first day at The Masters... maybe a first! Start your championship weekend with 5 consecutive birdies on the first 5 holes and a new record...where will he be on Sunday? The big fellow shoots his first sub-par round ever at The Masters...he's been to the crossroads and he made the deal! My guy shoots -4 under and thinks he can shoot better...needs to go to the crossroads! Has anyone watched "The Haney Project"? Tiger Woods' coach, Hank Haney, trys to teach Charles Barkley. Now Mr Barkley has played for years and he knows how the game is played, but, for those of you who are not aware of Sir Charles' golf swing check it out on Youtube. I have never, ever, ever seen anything like it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FrQQH4ZcuhY |
Subject: RE: BS: The Masters From: 3refs Date: 10 Apr 09 - 09:45 AM Most Canadian golfers over 50 know who Moe Norman was. For those of you who don't, he was considered to be the best ball striker ever! Moe was a little different than most, some say "savant-like", but could he ever hit a golf ball. It's hinted that when Moe went to the PGA Tour in the 60's, he was cornered by two of golfs more famous and told "he didn't belong"! The rummer mill has them being Arnold Palmer and Gary Player. I think his most lasting legacy is at one time or another, he held the low score record at over 40 different courses in Canada! |
Subject: RE: BS: The Masters From: GUEST,lox Date: 10 Apr 09 - 11:35 AM Jimmy Bruen was another with a crazy swing - and who struck the ball with legendary timing, grace, spin and distance. At the top of his swing the club pointed forwards - no - not forwards towards the hole, but forwards in the same direction as his toes. Here ... Have a look |
Subject: RE: BS: The Masters From: Rapparee Date: 10 Apr 09 - 11:59 AM I decided not to play this year rather than embarrass Tiger and the other young squirts on The Tour. |
Subject: RE: BS: The Masters From: Ebbie Date: 10 Apr 09 - 01:07 PM Rap, you have a big heart. |
Subject: RE: BS: The Masters From: van lingle Date: 11 Apr 09 - 09:07 AM "serious whip", indeed. I'd never heard of Bruen and his beautiful, fluid swing. Thanks for posting that, Lox. |
Subject: RE: BS: The Masters From: GUEST,lox Date: 11 Apr 09 - 12:57 PM Sadly the power of his swing ended up crippling him by causing untold damage to his wrists, hence the withdrawal from the walker cup referred to in the video. |
Subject: RE: BS: The Masters From: catspaw49 Date: 11 Apr 09 - 01:07 PM I saw Greg Norman made a pretty valiant effort for a comeback at a place where he's always been snakebit. It was a bit sad to see him leaving and the announcers made the scene almost a tear jerker. For his part, I figure Greg went back to their hotel and had wild sex with Chrissy Evert so any loss of a cheap green coat seems completely unimportant in my opinion............. Spaw |

Subject: RE: BS: The Masters From: Donuel Date: 11 Apr 09 - 01:38 PM the players ages range from 19 to 72 |
Subject: RE: BS: The Masters From: GUEST,lox Date: 11 Apr 09 - 01:39 PM I'd give my left bollock for one british open and a night with Chris Evert .... so I'm not shedding any tears!!! Moving on now to subjects less likely to cause me to have a heart attack ... Funny though how the BBC interviewer was so keen to give Greg the "you've been such a great sportsman" speil, to which gregs face was clearly suggesting "bugger off - I'm not washed up yet". He was awesome in the British open last year and I wouldn't want to count him out of anything just yet. |
